to start with, I know you're planning to upgrade this mod for 2.0. However, I'm looking at some of the "older" mods to get them working with my 1.1.7 test site - and hopefully if they all work, take the site from test to "live". This also helps me to learn how to work with mods and coding.
So, the question is - in the package, I know there's a section to be able to force all posts from the calendar to go to one specific board. Is it possible to rewrite that so that the Admin Staff can select a Category instead of a board? Then, users can select ONLY the boards in that category to post events to.
The reasoning behind this - we plan to have different events in the calendar, for example: Volunteering, Meetings, Classes, Dinners, "Get-Togethers", Testing Sessions, Flea Market/Tail Gating Events (for Amateur/Ham Radio). This way, all the events are categorized instead of running together in one board.
The MAIN reason we haven't upgraded to SMF 2.0 yet is the simple fact that there are a LOT of mods that we need that haven't been upgraded to work with 2.0 yet.
As soon as they are upgraded, we're going to have a site set up on our test server and get all the mods installed and working right, then just "port" it over to the live site.

not easily, no...

SMF really only uses categories as an organizational tool. they don't have any real existence and so, modifying this mod to that would be fairly complicated and require an amount of custom code (search the category, find the board in that category, determine the user's access to those board(s) create a pull down to allow the board to be chosen.


Also, I don't think you'll be easily able to get this working on 1.1.7.  the last build is for 1.0.5 which has significantly different code and even different database structure, I belive.

By the look of this, I am not sure it will. It isn't even ona higher version of smf (smf 1.1.8-9 ect)

I am working on it for 2.0.   I intended to make a release a month or so ago, but real life is taking its toll...

I *WILL* have a release for 2.0....   however, I have no intention of back-porting it for 1.1.9. Sorry.

2.0 is RC1 (it is out of beta, although still not a gold release)

gotcha. unfortunately.. I am not good at this stuff just yet and need their help with some things. If I do go to 2.0 before its a gold release they will not help me.. not a good thing
