FTP wont transfer default folder

So im using the guide to install SMF, and have copied over the SMF files to my website via FTP (filezilla) but the "default" folder did not initially transfer, so i tried to manually transfer it over, and I just got errors for the files. please help!

Thank you for both for both of your responses. The error I received was "553 could not create file." followed by "Critical file transfer error."

I tried setting the transfer type to binary but it gave the same result  :(

A hunchette, coz I'm not sure this'll affect FTP transfers...

Has your host got mod_security enabled? If so, they have it set WAY to severely. Ask them to disable it, coz it's crapTM.

How would I determine if this is enabled?

You could mess around, creating a phpinfo file. Much easier to just ask your host, though.  :)

You can try to upload the zipped package through your File Manager (if you have cPanel or similar), and unpack it directly in the server (much faster, actually).

But that's something your host is running, probably, that dislikes something in the folder content. It might happen that, even if you unpack it as I told you, the files get removed automatically. If that happens, you need to check with your host what's wrong...
