Category descriptions

Greetings from Finland!
We have downloaded SMF forum to be ourrole playing games storytelling platform. We have lots of castle and forest categoeries in there, but the problem we have - and what is causing trouble for us - is that descriptions in forum categories will not stay, if we try to edit them.

So: When we first create category and write long descriptions of the topic, text is visible. After I go to edit it, the text has disappeared from the description field. If I save, text will be gone.
What might cause this and is it possible to fix it some how?

Which mods are you running?

Are you using utf-8?

Hello and thank you for the replies.
We are writing Finnish, so Ä and Ö letters are present.
There is no mods currently being used.

Abd the language format is ISO-8859-1, not UTF-8. Should I change it?

Fixed: UTF-8 version of the language needed to be installed and forum settings to be changed to UTF-8
