Since the search is currently broken due to a stressed out server (developing that support site would help bunches), I don't know if this has already been mentioned - so I will (contributing further to the server load).

A "bump" button for admin and mods would be nice.

The issue with the search has been discussed a couple of times.  when search is down use entire site search.

IMO having a bump button is really annoying and use less.  immature, impatient people will bump their post every 5 seconds if they can.  this just upsets the admins.  it seems like all they want is attention.

It could use simlar algorithm as for karma, only allow one bump per hour (or per day etc...)

But, I dont like the feature anyhow  :P

Still i think people would abuse it.  Some people are too impatient.

I agree. A bump button would be useless. Unless it would lock the topic or notify the user that bumped the thread... I dunno...

I think a bump button used wisely could be a good thing especially on heavy use boards where the new topic could get booted off the first page in a matter of hours...

Just my thoughts...

Either way the admins will get to it at some point.  And bumping it becomes rude.

What use would an admin or mod have?

I meant for my forum not this one....

I think having it on this forum would make things a bit crazy around here... Maybe have it as a feature that could be turned on or off ?

Then you'd want it as a mod.  I thought about this and at first I thought, "ooh I could bump up the important threads on my forum so people will read those and not the crap that sometimes gets posted."  But, then I realized bumping is sorta like spamming, as far as I'm concerned, and there's no need to contribute to that.  If someone wishes to read a thread they'll read it.  There's also other ways to ensure threads are read such as telling friends, mentioning them in your posts or your sig, in a newsletter, or in the news box just to name a few.  No need for the bump button and especially not as an official feature for SMF.

Also possible...

-----------------------

But in the end this seems like an mod to me. Not a thing to add in SMF itself.

Vinspire

I think this a good feature ... Someone pls create this mod  :'(

I need this mod ... just make it that we could restrict the bump button to some board like "post count" board would do & only "1 bump" allowed to be made in a day ( like karma )

Please :(

Might be possible if based on message date.

Moved to Mod Requests as this popular but unlikely to be in a vanilla install anytime soon

You people are so lazy. Whats wrong with creating a post with a bump message :P
