Storage isn't exactly free --> Offload attachments to S3?

Hi guys, I've been running an SMF forum for several years that has accumulated attachments. The storage requirements (50-100GB) are making me purchase a VPS larger than what I need from a server processor point of view. I would like to offload some or all attachments to S3 or similar, and pay $0.03 GB ($2-3/mo) for that storage and bring down my server costs accordingly. Can this be done? Is this a common issue?

Obviously i would like to not pare down old attachments but have considered it. Is there a better way than to delete stuff more than 30 days old??

Thanks.

Colin

I'm not aware of stock SMF offering this feature, but I could see it being useful. This would be a good idea as a mod or a post in the mod requests board.

That would be a nice mod indeed and I would use it for sure. I have not found anything related to that here on the forum. I wonder if anybody is planning to develope such a mod.
