smf upgrade from 2.13 to 2.14

Hi all, iam trying to upgrade smf forums from 2.013 to 2.014 . the forums run by vps running ubuntu 14.04 . the upgrade says it needs access to certain folders and to enter ftp  info, so I installed vsftpd and created a user. but it says the user doesnt have write permissions. what do i enter to give the user i created write perms to smf forums. thanks :)

If you have access to the files and folders, could be easier for you to just make the files writable.
The error is not something you can change from SMF, but your FTP user doesn't have sufficient permissions to edit files on your server.
