Payment Gateway Problem

We have a paid subscription area on our forum. We had been using Paypal but for some reason they dropped us after 7 years. We have been trying to change the gateway to be compatible with authorize.net and are having problems. When a subscription is purchased the transaction does not go thru to authorize.net for some reason meaning no funds were transfered and no subscription was added or renewed. Anyone have any tips?

I found this in the forum directions:

Note:
SMF currently supports PayPal as the installed payment method.
  •  It is not necessary to enable IPN in your PayPal account; if you do, the forum will receive payment notifications for all payments made to your account, and this will generate Paid Subscriptions errors for payments that are not subscription related.
  •  You must have a business or premier account to use recurring payments.
  •  You must provide your primary PayPal email address for validation purposes.

If you install a different payment gateway, you may need to set up a return URL for payment notification. For all payment types, this return URL should be set as:

You can normally find it in your customer panels, usually under the term "Return URL" or "Callback URL".

but i do not understand it.

Are you using the authorize.net API? And are you creating subscriptions on authorize.net using their API?

The callbck url is only used if you are posted back to the site if you have external payment system it's job is to update the membergroup/store transaction information.

Thanks for your reply sir. Yes we are using the authorize.net API. We were using Paypal before. Does this mean those subscriptions were made using Paypal system? And subscriptions must now be created using authorize.net while using their API? Are we not getting results because we are using the Paypal subscription system with authorize.net and they are not compatible?

Yes before payments were used with PayPal. SMF out of the box does not support authorize.net so you will not get any subscriptions created in SMF unless you tie the two togehter somehow.

Sir Osis of Liver

subscriptions.php is the form handler, it receives the PayPal IPN, loads the gateway script (Subscriptions-PayPal.php), processes the payment, and updates membergroup.  You will need a gateway script for authorize.net to handle whatever payment verification they post back to the forum.
