how mail to all members

our forum was down (serve farm errors)
so we had to make new login site etc
I want to send email to all users (600+)
how do I do that?
if I can not -
can I DL the email address and use one of my own programs?

i thought would just make  internal news
but it DID send an email (so far, at least to me)
