Moving an existing forum to a new path

I have the need to move an existing and working SMF to a new path on the same server (it's a virtual host).
The firse release was on /var/www/forum while the new one have to move to /var/www/new-forum.
Of course i want to use the same DB so my idea was to simply copy the /forum/* -R to new-forum/.
Will this work or the tables in the DB contain the path where the SMF has been installed? Or how can i move the whole SMF without losing any info/data? Is it possible?

after moving all of the files to the new location
run the repair settings tool and make sure all paths/urls/etc match the new location(s)
you may need to run it twice
