Just contemplating a variation of this old mod: BBC In Custom Titles

The variation was to enbale BBC for personal text rather than custom titles. The template edits are trivial, and should be bulletproof, but is it possible to do this one with hooks?

Also, are the performance impacts of enabling parse_bbc in profile details likely to be significant on a large and active site?

Well since that title only appears in those 3 places (I think), could just be changed via hooks in $memberContext using integrate_member_context

I have no idea about the performance, but could cache it and disable smileys if needed with the parameters.

Yup, those are the only three places it apears in default templates.

ETA: Come to think of it, might be a cunning plan to give admins the option of which tags they want enabled here. Not sure how much of a rigmarole that would be, but offhand it seems like just a comma-spearated list of tags in one input should be able to deal with it. That then gets fed to the parameters in Sources, and knocks out anything completely stupid (ie: tables, marquee, smaileys, whatever).
