Setting a session, Logging a user into my application..

I am having an extremely difficult time trying to get the login to work on my application.

I have implemented the smf_2_integration_hooks file but any sessions I set gets overridden.

Someone suggested to look at the Sessions file, but there isn't one in the version that gets installed on SiteGround.

I paid someone to write the script for me. They set the sessions in the sources/loginout.php file but those, too, don't work.

I can't log anyone into my application without setting a session. How am I supposed to do this if SMF overrides any other session?

Edit: I also even attempted to write a cookie and that, too, didn't work..
