I do have a main forum with sub forums such as:

Testforum
- TestAsub
- TestBsub

Now I want user can only open new Postings in TestAsub and TestBsub, but there are NO postings allowed in Testforum main category. The user should be able to select the proper subforum before he can write the new post.

I was sure I got the settings once but lost it where to set this up...

Any hints?

Thank you so much

The main idea is that you need to create different permission profiles for areas that you want to use different permissions than your default. It does take a bit of tinkering to get used to, but once you understand the basic principle it's not too difficult.
