"install.php?step=2" is a blank page. I get lots of errors in [Apache's] error_log:

I cannot reproduce this, despite multiple attempts.  And others are not seeing this.

...point to this being an environment issue, not an SMF issue.

I'll leave this open about a week - just in case someone does find a way to reproduce.  If not, this will be closed.

The issue was a PCRE version mismatch. It should've been 10.40 (2022-04-14), when really it was 10.35 (2020)! Deo gratias [nofollow] SMF works now!
