Hi,

I have a weird bug. I'm trying to upload a Theme variant of my custom theme but everytime I get a "session verification failed" error. And I already had it installed with no issues. It started after I removed this variant from the list of themes via the remove button and wanted to re-upload it with just a different folder name.

So far I tried the following:
  • Cleared cache and browser history
  • Adapted the XML info (id & name)
  • Changed folder name
  • Uploaded a completely different theme successfully

Last night I uploaded several other variants of this theme and had no issues.I only changed names in the XML info (because sometimes I get a "this theme already exists" message)

Does anyone have a clue what's going on?

Removing a theme using the admin X does not delete the server directory. If you want to reinstall the same theme later you will have to go into the server and delete the directory

Actually, it does remove the directory in 2.1.
When in Emor, do as the Snamors.

.....  it SHOULD --- but if he's having to rename each attempt at loading a theme, it would seem that it is not...

Hi all, thanks for your replies! Well, I did watch the ftp server and the folder disappeared when I removed it via the Admin menu.
I don't know what I did differently but I got it to work after I once again had renamed the folder/zip file. Maybe this time I avoided spaces between letters, although I believe SMF does fill in underscores for you if there are any spaces. Really strange.

What are the parameters SMF relies on when uploading themes? Folder name and XML theme info, or just either one? Because I once had issues with just renaming the folder while all other files were identical and SMF told me that the theme was already installed.

Well, once installed,  just Renaming the folder won't work, because the database has the original info

I have to revive this topic as I'm getting the same error message again when I try to upload a new theme.
The new theme is based on an old one. In trying to resolve this, I created a new folder and copied the files over. I also changed the naming of the id inside the theme_info.xml. But all to no avail.

I keep getting the "Session verification failed" message and no files get uploaded.

Edit: I had a look into the error log of the FTP server and it shows this line here which I think might be related to it:

Suggest checking with your host... that seems to be a proxy error

Turns out the upload file size was limited to 16MB! Thanks for your help, @Kindred !
