Is there a way to reinstall without destroying all the changes I've made

I have a new-ish installation.  I installed a few mods from the mod site here.  I changed a few things in SMF  (using the Admin UI, not on the server directly)   Then I decided to remove the mods I wasn't using.  Immediately I got 100's of errors which I chased down to one.  So I reinstalled a completely fresh copy and the errors went to 10's but now I can't get rid of the mod, nor it's errors.  I dont really want to have to revert to a backup, and have to redo all my configuration changes. I am using the default theme, so I have not idea how to refresh the theme. 

I did post on the mod's thread, but so far no luck, and apparently I am not the only one having problems with this particular mod (Custom Forms).

If you've uploaded clean files and still getting mod errors you need to remove hooks with repair_settings.php.
