Sorry if this is the completely wrong place, but didn't know where else to post it.

Google have been badgering me for a while now to publish my GDPR consent message, and I have to get it done by Jan 16th.

I can actually use Google to to create this, however, it require a link to our 'privacy policy'? :-/

Again, I can have a privacy policy drafted up, however, does Simple Machine have a section withon the forum that this can be uploaded or stored ?

2.1 does. Use the admin panel search, and search for "privacy policy".

You know you can create your own GDPR and you dont have to use a third party if you know some basic coding. Using a 3rd party for GDPR is just another external js linked file you have no clue what they are doing unless you are a js programmer.

I just coded my own for my main site (not a forum) but i have not done it for the SMF forum that i have.  Personally i think its a bunch of hogwash to be required to have it, but things are what they are so i will play along :)

If i get it to work on the forum would you like to know how i did it ?

Please do not PM, IM or Email me with support questions.  You will get better and faster responses in the support boards.  Thank you.

I am not sure what that means actually.  Does that mean we can set up a footer banner inside admin?

FYI i did get my custom mod for GDPR to work on my SMF forum, works good.

But please explain how it supports it natively.

Cookie notices are one thing, SMF doesn't really offer those out of the box because all SMF cookies are functional, but the core of GDPR is more about acquiring, storing, handling and using personal data. SMF provides tools to comply with GDPR requirements, including but not limited to user configurable notification settings, and admin configurable privacy policy.
