BBC Icons not displaying after large upgrade to 2.1

Hi all. I recently upgraded a SMF from an old 1.something version to 2.1.4 and now the BBC icons are not displaying properly. The buttons are there and they work, they just don't display. See attached image to see how it appears.

The icons work on the default theme but don't seem to work on any other theme. I'm using NameX1.3.2 but have tried a few others as well with the same result.

Any advice much appreciated!

Try disabling CSS minification.
Admin > features and options > Minimize CSS and JavaScript files.

I'm not quite sure why this happens and if it only happens with specific themes.
