Wrong cron.php URL

My forum is in a subdirectory of the root - /forum/index.php.
The cron opens 1x1 image under /forum/cron.php?ts=xxxx.

Strangely Google Search console reports the cron directly under in the root - /cron.php?ts=xxxx. Why is this happening?

It's not a problem, just curiosity why is that.

Yes, Google looks in the wrong place for cron.php when the forum in a subdirectory.  Looks like a longstanding Google bug.

I just disallow it in robots.txt to clean up the errors in the search console. 

A different solution is proposed in the thread above, to help Google find the right location.
