Unable to upgrade from 2.1.4 to 2.1.6

I have been trying to upgrade all the test come out Test successful, Settings.php and setting.bak.php are both set to 777.
server name is: localhost and port is 21 I use the correct admin credentials, but still get Invalid Server

how are you upgrading? the large upgrade package or the patches in the admin panel?

Can you apply other mods in the package manager?

Yes I was able to install SMF Articles, with no problems

but, I think that SMF articles or 2.1 is hooks only....

you may have issues with file ownership/permissions, even if you think they are at 666/777

What is the precise error that you get? Can you also check your Server Error log page and see if there are any messages logged in there recently?

Usually, the ideal permission for files is 644, and for directories, it is 755.

got it to install now it say incompatable 2.1.4 with 2.1.6 run upgrader where is that at

you are installing the 2.1.5 patch then 2.1.6 patch? or what are you exactly doing?

As said by everyone, try settings.php with 755
Even for me I have updgraded form 2.1.4 to 2.1.5 via admin page / package manager.
But 2.1.6 updgrade was not showing, I have manually downloaded and upload in package manger to upgrade to 2.1.6
