help with spammer

ok i have a friend that also has a SMF board and lately has been the target of MANY MANY spammers .
they join and then post links to selling pills , porn , etc...

he has been banning them via the email address , hostname  , and IP but they still come back .

is there any modification that can be installed to post moderate new members ?

With RC3 it has a CAPTCHA which will prevent many automated signups.

You could require all new members to get admin approval so before they can post the admin must approve them (they can then filter out ones with potential spamming intent)

Admin > Registration > Settings.  Select admin approval.
