1.0.5 Can't install, 1rc installs but doesn't work, DB errors

Hello everyone, I am trying to install SMF on my system, I have Apache2, Mysql 5.0, and PHP5 all running seemingly good together.

There is my problem, when I try to install 1.0.5 I get an DB error during installation, saying my Database is old or Development stage, I tried getting and reinstalling Mysql again, still same error, so I tried to install 1.0rc, which seems to install just fine and I can run the forums, but when I try to view a category I get this error, which if very similar to other error, in regards to the column error is hxxp:c.id [nonactive]_CAT from line 82 in BoardIndex... here is the error

(c.ID_CAT may not be right, but it is hxxp:c.id [nonactive]_???)

Did you apply the MySQL 5.0.12 Compatibility patch?
