Using EasyPHP to test SMF

I am really very new to this whole subject.  I've done the tutorials to start with.  With EasyPHP is it possible to test out your setup of SMF before uploading, or, indeed to check possible changes?

If so, do you need to put a complete istallation of SMF in the www folder of EasyPHP?

yes you would need to insall SMF on your EasyPHP server. It should work, last time I used easyPHP everything went ok

I have an easyPHP question.

I am running easyPHP 1.8 on my localhost to try out different things with SMF.

In a couple of instances, it asks for ftp information when trying to install mods (like SimplePortal).

Any idea on how to set this up locally?
