Hi All,

I've added the Ad management mod without any problems, and have 2 adverts displaying upon the forum just fine.

Can anyone please tell me how I can track the number of clicks the adverts are getting by Google Analytics?!
I've been searching for 2 days and have yet to work out how to do this.

Hope someone on here could please walk me through the process of doing this!

Thank you, Charlie

What type of ads are they? Are they custom code from an provider such as adsense etc?

Hi VBGamer,

Thanks for the fast response.
They are just a hosted image with a website link attached.
For example:
<a href="http://www.clickbackup.co.uk [nofollow]">
<img src="http://www.webplusdesigner.com/Adverts/120x240%20ClickBackup%20Ad.png [nofollow]" border="2" />
</a>

Nothing fancy just a simple banner advert graphic.
Hope this helps, if you require any further information please let me know.

Thanks,

vbgamer45

That can't be tracked by google analytics well since they are leaving the site.
I do have AdSeller Pro which can do tracking for clicks/view of ads for banners that you upload and text ads you create using it.

Hi VBGamers.

Okay. Now how would other websites go about tracking adverts upon their site?
I am reluctant to pay for the AdSeller Pro due to I haven't any income coming in from any adverts so it is a bit of a risk.

Are their any other mod's that can track this?
Everyone cannot solely rely on paying to track ad click, can they?

Thank you for your support, Charlie

Other sites do the same way they have scripts that track the links they mask the url then redirect over to the ad site.
A workaround is you can use a url shorther for advertiser link and most of those places have an area to track clicks like bit.ly

Hi VBGamer,

So instead of having it as:
<a href="hxxp:www.clickbackup.co.uk [nonactive]">
<img src="hxxp:www.webplusdesigner.com/Adverts/120x240%20ClickBackup%20Ad.png [nonactive]" border="2" />
</a>

I should have it as:
<a href="http://bit.ly/11Wv3kj [nofollow]">
<img src="hxxp:www.webplusdesigner.com/Adverts/120x240%20ClickBackup%20Ad.png" border="2" />
</a>

And monitor the clickthroughs through bitly?
Is that what you mean?

Thank you, Charlie

vbgamer45

Yes make sure you have that enabled in bitly and create an account there to keep track

Hi - I tried to install the v2.0 ad mod to my forum (SMF 2.0.4) and got a scary message saying that I'd better not install as all the tests had been unsuccessful. I'm using a modified curve theme (I used colorizeit). Not sure what else you need to know. Here's my forum: http://tinyurl.com/d8awp3m

Thanks

Hi, I am a newbie here but got my wmf 2.0.4 up and running since last Friday.  I just installed your mod for SMF 2.0 and once I click upload, the screen went blank.  I ftp and look under /Packages and there was ad_mod_v3.0_SMF_v2-0a.zip.  I could not browse or install the package because the screen will go blank.

I had to manually delete the zip file then I will get my "Package Manager" page back.

I need help.

Thank you,

Andy

Deleting the zip file will NOT uninstall the mod.

Are you, by any chance using hosting from hosting24 or 000webhost?

Yes, I am now using the hxxp:www.000webhost.com [nonactive] for my testing setup the SMF.  I just moved my site to hxxp:ipage.com [nonactive].

I don't know about programing and I don't want to mess up with the one on hxxp:ipage.com [nonactive] so I am testing with hxxp:000webhost.com [nonactive]

Thanks,

Andy

Does it mean I made a bad choice and it'll never work?

I have successfully installed the package ad_mod_v3.0_SMF_v2-0a.zip. Unfortunately, I don't see the settings for it

"Go into the Admin panel of SMF and under the Configuration heading click on Ad Management then click on Add Ads"

I don't see Add Ads under Configuraton tab.

vbgamer45

Do you see ad management?

I am running 2.0.5 ( avoiding updating ).
Per the instructions of installing, it says;

./Themes/core/BoardIndex.template.php
Find
<tbody class="divider">
<tr>
<td colspan="4"></td>
</tr>
</tbody>';

Problem is, there's not a single part of this code that exists within BoardIndex.template.php.
Assistance?

@wolfetundra

Do you use the Core theme?
