Are there any errors in the logs ???

I have read thru this entire 104 pages and could not find an answer to the problem I'm having.

I have installed everything and everything shows correctly.

The problem is with the html I am supposing.

When I click to make a new ad ( I want to display a banner when you click on it, it takes you to their website) it takes away part of the html.  I can place an ad with just WORDS.. like TEST BANNER and I can see that fine, but I can't get the html part to work..

I'm using this type of code..   (links are not working for this demo) all you need is the code I'm using.

<a href="http://http://www.xxxxxxxx.com/XXXXXX.htm/"><img src="http://www.xxxxxxxx.com/XXXXXBanner1.gif" align="right" border="0"></a>

If anyone could help with this, thanks in advance!

Are there any errors in the error logs. That code you have should work but try using a div to align it:

<div align=right><a href="http://www.xxxxxx.net">
<img src="http://www.xxxxx.net/xxxxxx.png">
</a></div>

spiros

When clicking on admin help icons for the mod, I get strings like this:

permissionhelp_ad_manageperm

although Ads.english.php is in the language directory and I use English. Am i missing something here?

debbiem626

Bigguy,  that bit of code didn't work either..   it truncates to below after I hit save.

<div align=right><a href="http://www.xxxxxxx.net">
<!--                                                  -->
</a></div>

In your bit of code you had below

<div align=right><a href="http://www.xxxxxx.net">
<img src="http://www.xxxxx.net/xxxxxx.png">
</a></div>

you had .png for the attachment was that a mistake?  It's .gif  banner I'm trying to do.

No errors show up in the log.

Bigguy

Is Ads.english.php in the language folder of the theme you use ??? If not or there is not language folder in the theme you use create one and move it to there.

@ debbiem626: No no mistake there. Do you have it set to an html ad or php when you do this. ???

debbiem626

I have it set to html, but I have tried it with both the php and the html settings, still no luck.

Bigguy

Did the ad mod install with no errors at all. ???

yes it did, and I also tried saving my attachments as .png's  and tried the mod about changing .png's to .jpg's..   still no luck at all..  I uninstalled  the png to jpg mod..  I suppose I can try uninstalling the ad mod and try redoing it...??  But yes when I installed I got no errors and I can see the mod and I can post text and it shows..  I just cannot get it to show a banner or picture at all.

Bigguy

Try re-installing it. If at that point you can't get it to work PM me and I will check it out for you.

debbiem626

I did that..  now it doesn't work at all, it doesn't even show the TEXT now.

Let me know what I should pm to you..  thanks for you help.

Bigguy

Can you PM me an admin account to start off with and we will go from there. :)

I have the following themes installed and would like to have SMFads working in the welcome area:

Camo - http://custom.simplemachines.org/themes/index.php?lemma=249
Aa_New_Damage - http://custom.simplemachines.org/themes/index.php?lemma=107

I have been to the following link and got the new files for Aa_New_Damage http://files4.smfhelp.com/Ad%20mod%20edited%20files/aanewdamage.zip and installed them but they still dont show on that themes welcome area just on board index.

I feel comfortable editing files manually if I have to, I just need to be told what needs to change etc.

Thanks.

Try this mod parser. It will show you exactly what changes to make and where to apply them

Thanks, i just edited that post, it appears that the ads show on AA new damage when you click the tick box next to board index but still dont show in welcome area.

The mod parser only goes to 1.3 so thats not an option to use it.

I have installed this mod the other day but I see no signs of it whatsoever... nothing on board... nothing in admin area.. I am using the default theme so I would assumeits not a matter of theme. I have always switched to babylon and and YaBB theme but I still dont see it anywhere. Am I blind or did teh install go wrong?

I would really like to get to this to work on my test forum. If it is what I am looking for and I can get it to work in my test forum I then want to use it on my live site.

Please help.

shaiss

I had a similar issue on a fresh 114 smf install.  I had to use the parser and manaully make all the changes.  LAME!

Check the default language at the Server Settings at your acp and make sure that it is set to plain english and not english utf-8 which would be the case if you have installed smf via Fantastico
