Guest posts being deleted by search engine spiders?

Gradually guest posts have been disappearing from my forum - Guests do (well did, up to yesterday...) have permission to delete their own posts, but I've had complaints that people's posts have been deleted and not by themselves.

I've realised there's no way that one Guest is different from another, so in most cases the "can delete their own messages" permission is pointless, but also I have a theory that search engine spiders, by following "Remove" links, are actually deleting posts. Is this possible? Or shouldn't the Confirm popup stop this?

If this is indeed so, admins should be well aware, and I guess should always disallow those permissions?

Edit - have realised that no, the confirm popup wouldn't stop this...

I might suggest just to disallow the permission to delete their own posts, but allow them the permission to edit their post. that way if they don't like their post, they can at least edit it.
