DokuWiki Talkpages

<-- see postcount.  I've admined a 1.0.6 for a few months but I'm not experienced with the guts.

I'd like to set up a SMF board (1.1RC2) that can hold Talkpage-like discussions associated with DokuWiki articles.

My thinking thus far in an absence of searchable info:
1) The DocuWiki is modified to hold an SMFThreadID sort of field
2) Thread articles in this board would have a <wiki> link that would link to a Wiki Article of its thread title.  New articles would take the thread id and save it in the SMFThreadID field.
3) Wiki Article has a "Talk Page" link that links to the forum based on the SMFThreadID
4) If the SMFThreadID does not exist, has a Create Thread Link that sends in its pagename for use as a thread title and thread create submission updates SMFThreadID with the new thread id.

How would this affect board performance? Not all threads on this forum would be Talkpages.  Feasibility?
