In the standard SMF installation (just using the default templates), the news is displayed next to the Search box. ie:

NEWS              SEARCH


How can I change it so that the News is BELOW the searchbox? ie:

SEARCH
NEWS

That way the News would take up the full screen width, and therefore less lines, before the forum message areas are listed....

I hope that makes sense? Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks Brian, that almost works, but it breaks the template and the News section is too wide so the forum has to be scrolled side to side in my browser.

Either that or I've mucked it up?

Can anyone elaborate on what Brian has posted - I'm afraid I'm not very good with php coding!

Just a minor problem..... If you look at the following screencapture, you'll see that after making the changes, I now have another "search" box appear - ie, "Entire Forum" selection box and another "Search" box next to that.... Can I get rid of those and just leave the one search option that appears on the next line?

I spoke too  soon guys - The changes cause a MAJOR problem when posting a message, when you click on "Post" it says you've forgotten to add a search parameter, and the message vanishes into thin air

You can enter a message, but as soon as you click on "Post" to complete the message it falls over....
