Hello guys, (sorry for my english im french.)

ok so i have some problems installing Ad Management mod V 2.3
My SMF current version is 1.1.8.

i have downloaded ad_mod_v2-3-4_SMF_vbeta4.zip from http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=255

went on my forum > admin > packages >  Download Packages > Upload a Package > Selected the zip file i downloaded earlier > Upload.

I got this message:
Package has been downloaded successfully
Ad Managment    [ Apply Mod ] [ List Files ]

I clicked on Apply Mod.
Then i got this message:

The package you are trying to download or install is either corrupt or not compatible with this version of SMF.

What did i do wrong??
Please help me!

Thanks a lot

vristang

^ I think you're trying to install the SMF 2.0 version on your SMF 1.1.8 version.

Go back to the Mod page...
http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=255
and make sure you download the zip file for version 1.1.*...
It is the top one.

I have a request for a minor change in the excellent mod....

I would like to display 2 ads, side by side in my header.
I have no idea how to make the coding changes to do this.

Also, I only have 2 advertisers right now, so it would be kinda cool if I could dedicate an ad to each location.

Just for clarification,
I am using the Babylon theme, so the bottom of my header is a row of buttons.  This mod placed the ads just below this row.  I like that location.
What I would like to have is an Ad on the Left, and an Ad on the Right.
And since I only have 2 Ads to choose from, I would like to take manual control over which Ad is displayed in each location.

I thought I saw somewhere that jerm no longer had time to fully support this mod and change requests.
If that's so, could someone else help me out... or atleast get me pointed in the right direction?

Thanks,
jason

thx vristang! intalled this mod perfectly.
I have another little problem, i added my google adsense code etc.
here is a screencap hxxp:i39.tinypic.com/1iyf11.jpg [nonactive]

but the ads dont show anywhere. :( whats the problem?

vristang

Each member group needs to have 'permission granted' for the ads to show.

Admin CP > Members > Permissions
Then Modify each groups permissions to see the Ads...
(it was in the top right corner for most of my groups)

yeah ive done that, but its still not working. ive noticed that its working with the default theme but not mine. (im using the "classic" theme) :(

vristang

Aaahhh,
You'll need to manually edit your Index.Template file for YOUR theme...

Head back to this page...
http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=255

Select the top zip file again, then in the drop down window just below, select 1.1.8.  Hit submit.
This will take you to a list of file edits that are done for this mod.

Anything done in Themes/Default/*****
Will have to be done manually in your theme....

ok thanks im going to try. so i have to remove the package working with the default theme right? then, edit the package and reupload it?

vristang

I'm not sure I would mess with the package....

What I have been doing to get Mods installed on my Babylon theme...
Install the package, as long as no errors come up.  This gets the majority of it done.
Then, I go into the File Manager for my site via my Web Host.  This gives me access to ALL the files.
I go through the directions for a manual install.  Anything that is done in the Default them, will need to also be done in YOUR theme.
Also, double check any changes made in English, as some also need to be made in English-UTF (at least they did for my Babylon theme).

Hope that helps... it's about all I know right now, as I am just starting out here myself...

I did a manual install for Ad Management with my Yabb Theme and am getting this error when I enter the Ad Management.  I have reloaded the "LoadAd.php" a couple times, but still receive the error.  My smf versions is 1.1.8, and using "ad_mod_1-1-x_v2-3".  Thanks for the help

Issue with the Ad Mod

LoadAds.php is missing/corrupt from your sources directory. Please make sure that it uploaded properly. The Ad mod won't be able to function properly. If you are having issues, please visit www.smfads.com [nofollow]!

Guys Its easy Job...

For me Ads mod worked out without manual edit...
Just try selecting other themes (check them) while installing mod...

If your theme is much customised one than you need to install it manually....
To install manually goto mod's page select your SMF version from drop down menu and click go....

This ll lead you to manual install page..... Its far easy to install from there rather than tampering with the code looking for what changes occured in default theme...

No need to edit on your hosts file manager... Better way ll be to download the file... make its backup than tamper with it... and than upload it back....

If ads are not getting displayed for guests or other members goto
AdminCP-> member->permission

Select the group and add the permission enable ads.... thats all....:D

I have a suggestion for this mod. On my forum I am using it to display ads and a menu to send the visitors to external pages and I would like to disable ads for registered members but still be able to show the menu blocks. Would it be possible to set permissions for each ad?

The latest version should install fine to the default theme.

No, it doesn't work with 2.0 beta 4 and RC 1!!
Where is the dev? Why doesn't he release a new version?

Diidn't work for me either. I installed it as per the instructions, all the files seem to be there, and the table is in the SMF database. But the "Ad management" link isn't shown in the admin section of my forum. It should appear under "configuration" but its not there. I am using Anecdota theme by Crip.
