I would like to comply with posting directives, but I don't know what "converter name, converter website" means.

I would very much like to convert my Drupal forum to SMF 1.1. What a mistake I made in using Drupal. Help!

Hi, I think the converter for eblah works only with a 9.0 version.
I tried to convert eblah 9.6 platinum in SMFF RC1 and 3 and gott only errors.

Any ideas ??

Thanks

Permutations what version of Drupal are you using?

JungleBunny I'll see if I can get eblah to install on my PC.  If I'm able to install it I'll look into it.

You know, I'd love to tell you this, but this piece-of-crap software doesn't make it that easy to tell. It's either 4.6.8 or 4.7.2. I can't remember if I upgraded or not. I will continue hunting for clues.

Thanks for looking into this. I'm going to switch no matter what, but it sure would be nice not to lose the entire message base.

Geesh. I finally figured it out by looking at the custom theme I'd made. I had to change it for 4.7. I'm running 4.6.8.

For GOD Sake, that would be great, Jay !!!!!! :-* :-* :-*
Yet I am running an eblah forum with about 5000 members and got some trouble with my provider, cause of the traffic. He said it is the perl script who make such big traffic.
so I looked around and found SMF.

You would get some money because of your work. Of course.

Thanks

I'll look into both converters this week.

JungleBunny what convert.php are you using?  Did fou get the file from the Download > Converters page?
Title: Re: Converter Requests
Post by: JungleBunny on September 11, 2006, 03:04:37 PM
I used the " smf_1-1-rc3_eblah_converter ". I tried both progs  ( eblah_to_smf.php and convert.php ).
But the converting file said...eblah 9.
So I thought maybe it is not for the next generation like eblah 9.6 platinum.
So I installed SMF RC1 and RC2 but with the same result.
Nothing was imported.

I need the Invision converter to be modified so it also converts IPB blog into FelBlog. All applications are on the same db.

Current: Invision board + Invision Blog
Converted to: SMF board + FelBlog
I'll pm full access to my db if anyone have the time to create this converter!

-Is that possible?
-If not, is there anyone who can make me a converter Invision blog => FelBlog?
-Where can I learn to create own converters?

Thank you!

Hi there,

I desperately need the code in the converter already on this site for eBlah v.9-SMF to be updated to eBlah v.10-SMF. The developers made some changes in the database for v.10 and so the converter no longer works.  :(

I can provide a database from my eBlah forum if that helps and can donate $20 towards the time needed to update the PHP conversion script.

I have already installed SMF 1.1 RC3 on my server and have eBlah v.10.X installed on the same server so am ready to go when you are. As soon as the posts (2000+) are ported over I can get my community up and running on my installation of SMF.

Thanks for your help.

EDIT: To anyone reading this in the future, Oldiesmann updated the converter for me over the weekend and the converter should now be available either in the converters section or by searching the site.

I too would be interested in a converter from phpBB2 with Categories Heirarchy and Topic Calendar mods installed. I did see some talk about this on another thread and it seemed some work had been put into this conversion for an earlier RC version of SMF, but as it's not listed in the converters I guess it either never reached completion or no longer works.

How much changes in the db from the base phpBB format? Are there major changes in the mods themselves between versions? (Basically, I'm trying to figure out how much work it will be to develop and maintain.)

Hard to say from where I'm sitting, but as CH adds nestable subforums and also changes the administration panel completely I would guess the structure differs fairly widely from the vanilla, even before you consider the calendar add-on. The file structure of phpBB is changed making it very difficult to add other mods as some of the files needed for them no longer exist.

On the plus side, however, maintenance shouldn't be a problem once it's done as phpBB 3 will negate any need for CH so there are going to be no more major versions, just small bug fix changes to the code if needed.

I'm fairly sure it was Oldiesmann who was attempting it in the previous post so may be better to ask him as he would know the technicalities of it better than I.

i tried phpbb2 but it doesnt work

Which version of phpBB 1? It's still available for download, so if you can give me a specific version number, I might be able to help you.

i hope (even its already obsolete) you'll still create IPB 1.2 to SMF converter coz some admins still uses IPB 1.2 and would like to transfer to SMF.

Send me a copy of a db dump from IPB 1.2 and I'll see what I can do.

An IPB 2.2 converter would be nice :) I`ve tried the 2.1 version and it works to an extent, but then fails from the poll conversion almost through until the end. Thanks.

Hi,
I have an ikonboard 3.1.1 that I am replacing with SMF,  I downloaded the converter but it only works with SQL not the DMB that that version set up as default.
I have asked about doing the conversion in ikonboard but that community is pretty far gone and answers are few and far between :(

I did an export database of the board and the format looks pretty simple, but after having to figure out all the issues involved in moving from redhat 8 to suse 10.1, and getting PHP, SQL, and all the other stuff running right on my new web/mail/ftp/forum server I'm pretty brain dead.

Anyone interested in spiffing up the existing ikonboard converter to do the ikonboard export format (or dbm)???

I can help.

I have all the data & a working ikonboad & a working smb (On separate machines tho).

Tia

I would but the thing is. I just found out the co-owner didn't buy it. He used an illegal copy so I took it offline for now untill I convert.

Thats the main reason im converting, but I have been wanting to since I created my other smf board and awesome support here.

I'm not having any luck at all converting my 3.1.1 ikonboard to SQL so I can import it into SMF.
Is there a csv to SMF converter?
The output of the ikonboard "export database" is pretty much CSV.

Is there someone I can just pay to build this converter?

Converter Website: http://www.nuke-evolution.com/

I had made a seperate post regarding this before noticing this thread, I'll remove it after I post this.
The convert from Nuke-Evo to this seems it wouldn't be too different than converting phpbb, the database looked fairly similar, there's just some slight differences.

Thanks in advance! Or a polite no would work as well =)

For the flat file, I'm guessing it would be a lot easier to figure out the API for them, then include and use the flat file API rather than mucking with the data structures...

If anyone's interested in an Invisionfree crawler-style converter, or a similar version for Proboards, I have one available that I'm willing to distribute freely [conversion should get almost everything except user passwords, which are handled by mass-PMing new passwords to the users, and advanced features like attachments and such]

Title: DNF Forum "Import" ?
Post by: chakujitsu on June 20, 2007, 06:16:41 PM
Dear Conversion Gurus,
I have "inherited" the admin function for a community forum using DNF (Da NobodX Forum; discontinued French forum package, available for download Here (http://www.toocharger.com/fiches/scripts/da_nobodx_forum/3387.htm)) which is PHP based with no DB component (all data is stored in text files on the server and managed by PHP).

I currently manage two other community forums based on SMF and would love to be able to migrate this one to be the same

The forum PHP stores each topic in a separate text file on the server. I've included a sample file for reference.

I am not looking for a fully automated migration of all forum contents, I'm merely hoping to recover the user postings if at all possible (The users have been kind enough to confirm their willingness to register all their details in a fresh SMF installation if required).

Any assistance would be very much appreciated.

Regards
Chaku

Hrmmm,
looks like noone is interested in supporting this migration.
Next steop is to move my posting to the main converters request section and leave it there for a couple of days. Failing that, I should post a paid request for help.

So much for the vibrant support community :) Juuust kidding, i know you guys are busy and this isnt your paying job, and i wont get into thewhole "we should have teh option of paying for great packages like SMF if only to get timely support ;) " discussion.

carmelomvp, there is no need to repeat yourself.   I am fairly certain that a phpbb3 converter will come along at some point in the future.

Do realize that phpbb3 is still not final, stable software.  There could still be changes made that would render keeping a converter updated nigh impossible.

Is there an SMF->SMF "converter" available? I.e. if you have two separate installations of SMF running, and you want to merge those two?

Automatically incrementing the ids so that no posts etc. would be overwritten?

Alternatively, I'll write one myself.. I can't seem to find good documentation for the database structure, however. Am I looking the wrong places?

Seems like you are using an out of date convert.php.  Try getting the one from the sticky on this board.

I have a very obscure forum that I'd like to convert to SMF.  It's called GF++ and is a GameFAQs spinoff.

http://zeikfried.com/spinoffs

I use a slightly modified version of the OG (Karma) spinoff.

I'd love to be rid of this buggy script and have SMF in it's place.

I'll try to answer anything I can to help things along, if needed.

I want to convert my UBB Classic 5.47e board.

Have been unable to find a converter. Any help would be appreciated so that I can begin using SMF. Thanks. I know there are a lot of other old UBB boards that are tired of UBB.

Although I see you have a converter for punBB, it appears to be for version 1.1.2 while I need one for ver 1.2.14.  Suggestions?

I have been using a flat file text database forum for a while and would now like to upgrade to a proper mysql script in order to allow growth.

Forum script Ultimate Power Board
site: www.myupb.com

This would be a great thing for me if any of you guys could create a converter for me.

Thanks
Skruffs

Yukk flat file.  These converters are hell to write.  It's possible to do though. I'll look into it when I get a chance.  It might be more than a month or so cause I am really busy with school work and rl stuff ATM.

Save as above.  I'll update it when I get some free time.

I need an converter for phpbb3 rc7 to smf 1.1.4. Is there any existing one?

Phpbb3 converter is not yet completed. phpbb3 is also still in rc status which means changes are still being made, which makes converters somewhat difficult to do as one new version might be totally different to another. it is possible we wont see one until 3 goes gold.

I need Converter from Snitz 3.4.06 to SMF 1.1.4 that support Unicode UTF-8.
I tried all ways from this forum but all failed, after conversion all users passwords gone, and the messages displayed improperly (wrong charset).

Cheer,

I combed through a section of this forum and all of this thread in hopes of finding what I was looking for and, seeing as I didn't, I hope that it's not an unreasonable request.

But has anyone made, or seen, and X5 to SMF converter?

Edit: Nevermind, I think I just found what I was looking for.

Is there a converter for BbBoard (aka BbBoy)? (link to their site: http://bb.bbboy.net/ )

We're currently on version 1.4, but we could upgrade to v2 if that makes life easier.

Should I assume the lack of reply means that such a converter doesn't exist?

Question for Zherog:: is this a webhosted forum, which won't offer the database for download? In that case, I may be able to help, having written converters (Invisionfree, Proboards, ActiveBoards) of this type before.
