Care to elaborate Mr. SMF Customization Team? Perhaps some screenshots?
From reading the modification file I think it lets you do things like Limit on Length, Lines, Images (wow), Font Size and other stuff to control what users put in their signatures.
btw. you wouldn't say Mr. SMF Customization Team... Its a Group of people..

this is a great mod for those of us that have people that like to make massive signatures in doing this it allows the system to work instead of a person going round looking for the signaturest that chew our bandwidth up. Nice mod :)
Something like this should be integrated, not be a mod. Unfortunately, mod install fails on my forum, so I cannot use it.
i installed this mod 2 times accidentaly now i got message whenever i try to access ADMIN cannot redeclare bla bla bla at line bla bla bla can some one tell me what files does it modify and what entries shld i remove from each file thanx :)
Edit:- U know what screw this it needs improvement so i uninstalled it :(

Gamer, it adds: Maximum amount of lines, Maximum image count, Maximum smiley count, Maximum width of signature images, Maximum height of signature images, Maximum font size allowed in signatures, and set BBC tags. In the Features and Options panel, and moves the set number of characters.
Pedja, you can install it manually, when I was testing the mod, I had to do a manual install at first because of a conflicting mod. If you don't know what you're doing, don't, but if you do, proceed and install on the failed files manually.
Awesome mod!
This should become a post 1.1 feature! 8) ;D
Actually, it is. The mod is a backport of a feature which is in development.

I've added a screenshot.
Pedja, can you list what other mods you have installed?
great news to hear its gona be part of 1.1
great job u guys!!
---
wow installed seamlessly! and even has automated syncronyzation :D I love to see that red progress bar loool makes it look like something really important is taking place haha
----------
hahaha i love this one - all those annoyingly huge signatures gone within seconds!!
i love you guys for making this!!
please make more stuff which gives admins more control like control over posting links for membergroups and also that bbc tags mod by winrules is realy awesome too
I think stuff like this which has DIRECTLY to do someting with board functionality and control should definately be integrated into SMF so that its elements can be controlled more easily
just my 2 cents :D
aku
great job...

Very good to know ;D ;)
Hello everyone :)
Being a newbie to SMF I tried installing what seems like an excellent mod, BUT I got the following errors:
Execute Modification ./Sources/ModSettings.php Failure
Execute Modification ./Themes/default/Admin.template.php Failure
Execute Modification ./Themes/default/languages/ModSettings.english.php Failure
Execute Modification ./Sources/Display.php Failure
Execute Modification ./Sources/Profile.php Failure
Execute Modification ./Sources/PersonalMessage.php File not found
Execute Modification ./Themes/default/PersonalMessage.template.php File not found
I'm using SMF 1.0.9 and patch for SMF 1.1 RC3.
Any ideas on how I can get the mod installed?
Many thanks
:D
Only works for SMF 1.1 RC3
Hi, I have installed this mod and everything seems to work fine. However I still see members with more than one image in their signature even though I have "Maximum image count" to 1 at the settings. Do I miss something here ? Thanks.
right in the signature settings part of of admin at the top:
Note that settings are not applied to existing signatures by default. Click here to apply rules to all existing signatures.
Everything installs fine but when I try to click on FEATURES AND SETTINGS in my admin panel it gives me this error.....
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare modifysignaturesettings() (previously declared in /Sources/ModSettings.php:410)
in /Sources/ModSettings.php on line 685
anyone know anything about this?
Look in ModSettings.php. You should find two blocks of
modifysignaturesettings()
{
[...]
}
Delete one of them.

Thank you, that worked!
for some reason this mod doesnt seem to work....
I have the signature max height of images set at 175 and there is a member who just signed on today that has a 200 height image....
I clicked the link to apply the rules to all signatures again to see if it would change it and it didnt.....
Do these rules only work for signature images uploaded to your forum and not for any image added that might be hosted elsewhere???
Or what else could be the problem???
I guess no one knows why this mod doesnt work?
Getting this error trying to install..
Profile.template.php Test failed
Any ideas?
yup im having the same error as Jump1979man
The signature settings DO NOT update if i change them and then click the link to update them for all
very strange!

origin8or - What other mods do you have installed?
To others having problems with things updating - I'm not the one who wrote the mod, but I'll take a look later today when I have more time and get back to you with a more proper response.

Looking forward to the 1.1 version of this mod too... badly needed in my forum!
Updated the mod to install on SMF 1.1.1 and 1.1
I've tried to install the mod on a test board running SMF 1.1.1 and get the following errors:
Type Action Description
1. Execute Code install.php
2. Execute Modification - Modification parse error
Would appreciate some help, please.
I've downloaded the mod and it passed inspection and all is fine, but for some reason it won't resize existing sigs and it allows images to go over the limits. I'm using 1.1.1... any ideas on how to fix it? :-/
Same problem here... :(
Even after the "apply to existings sigs" operation some users have their images with bigger dimensions than the one i'm allowing...
they use [img] tags and host them either in imageshack or photobucket or i guess any other...
yea this mod is broken - it dosent work as advertized
I wouldnt say "broken" it's a feature that is in development, backporting it as a mod, gives us the chance to test it better.

2. Execute Modification - Modification parse error
Same error here (using 1.1.1). Any clues?
would be nice if this worked on a per memberground basis
eg you could have newbies allowed only plain sigs
longterm users allowed images and more
Great mod, thanks.
It would be useful if there was a definable "Enable basic HTML in posts" equivalent so that people could not circumvent the removal of [img] by using <img> whilst still allowing HTML in posts.
I appears that you can also use caps in BBCode and get round this too.
Cheers,
Al
I get a "Modification parse error" next to "Execute Modification". I'm using SMF 1.1.1 and no other packages installed. This is a fresh installation.
I read on the forum that many are getting this error from various mods on various host configurations (ie. doesn't matter if safe-mode is on or off). I'm wondering if it's the mod or if it's something with SMF 1.1.1? Anyone know for sure?
Would like to use this mod... But I'm all for it being a part of a future version of SMF as well. :)
I also have the Modification parse error, again running SMF 1.1.1
I have the SMF Arcade 2.0.5, Admin Notepad, Xfire Field v1.1 and HTML Permission Mod v1.01 although if people with no mods are getting the same error, im guessing there's a conflict somewhere with SMF 1.1.1
OMG! I have been waiting so long for something like this.
So if my signature image is in something like photobucket, displayed as an image link, then I can restrict the height and width?
Please tell me it's true :) :) :)
Yes, thats true.
-AwwLilMaggie
he did anyone fix this yet?
So that the settings can be applied more than once?
Cos it only works once after the initial install - after that it never works again :(

cool,
second question - can you do anything about limiting the file size of the banner you are displaying? dimensions are great but we would like automatically stop people from displaying banners with large file sizes eg 200kb, 500kb etc

uh oh, that doesnt sound so good, I would want to make changes to the settings
i want to use it but i was wondering if there is a way to give a larger sig permission to a certian group on the forum. I want to allow 600 characters rather than 300 that i allow as a default to my annual supporting members
perplexed me and maybe 2 other users had this issue
so for all we know it could be isues on our end
so be sure to try it out - its a great mod, hope it works for u

I believe the mod team are working on an update for this. The capitalisation of the BBC tag bug should be fixed in the next update. I have yet to add the checking of HTML img tags but it is on my list. If this mod appears not to be working on some signatures can you please post the *exact* BBC being used on the offending posts?
Thanks,
Grudge
The "modification" errors are due to language issues...
I was able to solve it by editing the XML file so it points to the correct files. ;)
Someone started a thread asking for a signature mod that would work the same way as avatars currently work and have the same options. I read it the other day. I was thinking about this again today and that would be brilliant if someone could do that or maybe add some extra settings to this great mod, to make it work that way.
avatar options:
select one from the server
upload one to the server
point to one on an external site
All of these can be switched on and off.
If this was also to be the case for signature banners, this would solve a lot of problems people have with members uploading huge files, or huge banners etc. Generic banners could be created the same way as happens now with avatar packs, people get the option to upload their banner to the server BUT under the limitations of this mod, so they wouldnt be able to upload large files. The option to point to an externally hosted banner could be switched on or off. In addition, the other settings in this mod would come into play, number of images, number of lines allowed and so on.
I havent had much sleep but it sounds great to me lol Can someone please consider doing this or how it could be done? I'll even offer to make banner packs for testing :)
Tried installing this but got this error
QuoteInstallations actions for "Signature Settings Mod":
Installing this package will perform the following actions: Type Action Description
1. Execute Code install.php
2. Execute Modification - Modification parse error
Using SMF 1.1.1 with Tiny Portal 0.9.7.1
Helpful hint: modification parse errors can be due to insufficient permissions.
How exactly do I prevent users from having images in their sig, if 0 means "no maximum"? I've disabled the image tag already, but there's the capitalisation problem...
Quote from: perplexed on February 13, 2007, 04:29:18 PM
ok I installed this mod on my test forum, and set up the signature limits, but I seem to be able to still enter as many images, lines of text etc as I like - is that because I'm an Admin or is it not working?
Perplexed - Yes, admins are excempt from the rules.
whoops sorry, I worked it out and deleted my post - sorry I didnt see yours :)
thanks for the reply and nice to see you back :)
Still getting the parse error even after making sure all folders and files had proper permissions set.
Any additional help is much appreciated.
is this work for smf 1.1.2?
It should work.
To all who are getting modification parse errors: What PHP version are you using?
When i try to install it on smf 1.1.2 first i get this error
QuoteWarning! This mod has not been tested on your version of SMF. Do not procced if you get errors!

PHP 5.2.0
I have 5.2.0 as well
I also have the signature permissions installed and it both installed and works with no issues.
I have installed this in two forums already with no problems but today I upgraded my 3rd forum and then installed this mod. When I tried to apply to the existing signatures it seemed to stall at 12% and then just time out in all browsers. So now I dont know if it applied the new settings to all existing signatures or not. I tried it again but again it stuck at 12%.

This doesn't restrict external <img>-images to a specific size. Should it?
I was wondering as Maggie stated earlier in this topic if this is still going to be integrated into a later release of SMF. She did state a version release after 1.1 and was just wondering if this was still a consideration.
- It does not apply the limit to administrator account automatically.
- Smileys are not controlled. It should be nice to have a checkbox to disable smileys.
Is this ok to disable smileys?
/*!empty($sig_limits[4]) &&*/
/ What about too many smileys!
$smiley_parsed = $unparsed_signature;
parsesmileys($smiley_parsed);
if (/*!empty($sig_limits[4]) &&*/ (substr_count($smiley_parsed, "<img") - substr_count($unparsed_signature, "<img")) > $sig_limits[4])
{
$txt['profile_error_signature_max_smileys'] = sprintf($txt['profile_error_signature_max_smileys'], $sig_limits[4]);
$post_errors[] = 'signature_max_smileys';
}

Actually it does work. But only for new signatures. Does not work for existing signatures, unless you choose to apply to existing signatures. This however, takes time and does not complete for me :(
well It doesn't work for me at all.. Because after installing it and configuring it I tested it..and it would allow any size (image) signatures :/

But the warning readme says that this mod had not been tested with the SMF version that I am using and do not proceed if i come to an error.
That is technically true, it hasnt been tested on 1.1 because it's actually a DE feature.
Still, ignore it and run the installation anyway, then make the changes to Profile.template.php manually.

This mod is great but anyone ever felt that can we have some feature like ..
--> Allowing signature feature to the user after certain amount of post (thus encouraging user to be active on forum)
--> Hiding signature from guest (that can really save a significant amt of bandwidth as well as more SEO friendly forum + discouraging spammers joining ur forum only for the purpose of prmoting their site through siggi links.)
If we hv already some way arnd for these features then plz let know.
Thanx.

if they alreayd had those banners in place, this mod won't affect existing signatures.

Thanks. I must've missed that. If it's merely a case-sensitivity issue, it won't be hard to fix. I'll take a look at it, when I get some time in the next couple of days, and then post the fix.
Extremely small changes to fix the case sensitivity. In each case, I'm merely adding the case-insensitivity flag to each of the regular expressions, which is to say I've added an "i" to the very end of each expression.

It installs and works fine in 1.1.2, aside from the bug I showed the fix for above. Why do you need it to be "official"?
I had some requests for slightly bigger sizes for pics in sigs and now I can't get any of them to change. The new settings aren't taking.
So, I tried to uninstall the mod and am getting the test failed error for
./Sources/ModSettings.php
This is really frustrating.
Well I went ahead and uninstalled the darn thing because I have absolutely no control over my sigs now. The settings are stuck on what I originally had. So the mod is gone, completely deleted and apparently the settings are all still in effect.
Can I just go into the MySQL database and remove those settings? Will this screw something up? It's EXTREMELY frustrating.
Please make an mod with the fix - not all users are skilled enough for handytasks ;)
Thank you much :)

but i nstall it without any problems. i should see if it will work correct.
I get the following when I try to download it from within 1.1.2 :-

Hi,
Trying to install this mod and get the following error:

SMF 1.1 RC3

Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
You need to do a manual install of the mod...other mods you have added have altered the files this mod seeks to install itself into and thus the automatic package manager won't work.

Cheers for the quick reply.
Any word on the parse error some of us are getting I'm running PHP5 5.2.2.
I'm trying to install this mod on 1.1.2 using the SullenMadness_RC2 theme over at JerichoRallyPoint.com (http://www.jerichorallypoint.com). Can anyone point me into the right direction for installing this onto a non-default theme?
I have unchecked IMG code and it still allows members to insert the code with an image.
Any idea?
hm, this mod doesn/t allow to administrator to have signiture bigger then other users and that is bad because administrator should have not restricted permission to all parts of forum !

I'm having the same issue... if I use the feature to "apply rules to all existing signatures" it eliminates any sigs with images (or other banned code), but users can still go back in and fix it and it will show the images until I hit that button again.
I read through here, but didn't see a fix for this error :

'Mod' does not work in Spanish, because 'Profile.spanish.php' and 'ModSettings.spanish'.php should be modified.

I cannot find the option on the admin's feature and options ?

HELP PLS ASAP!
Try changing to the theme default
still not working. can't see the "signature settings". I tried that on my other forum, and nothing much happened except the changed of the theme. =/
¿are you use english language?
If not you should copy the english modification on:

Appeared to install smoothly but...
Unable to load the 'edit_signature_settings' template.
This didn't work for me. No ones signatures are being resized, even after I went through the process of doing it. I also created a test account after I installed it to see if it will work on new accounts, and it doesn't.
I just need it to limit the signature height. h well. Too bad. It would have been a cool mod if it worked...

Same thing here. Does anyone have any solution to this? Thanks!
I think I read somewhere that signature setting options would be included in the next smf version 2.0 *shrug*
I don't think the resize existing signatures works very well.
Also, I have noticed another problem and I don't know if it is this mod that has something to do with it or not. In ACP I have set the images on the forum to be displayed at 300 x300 pixels (this is in features and option, not the signature settings mod) but since this signature settings mod was installed, members are able to post very large images that are not being resized. I have done the fix for capital letters but this is still happening, and this mod is the only change that I made, so I wonder if somewhere it is bein overridden ???

Your error is a variant on the most common error of all those reported on these pages...it tells you that another mod you have installed has already edited the file in question and that you thus need to do a manual installation of this mod. Please read:

I have been having issues with getting all the different mods to work in harmony which has meant I've been searching the forums here for the last few hours and uninstallingapplying mods in different variations until they work by finding the info posted here. however, I didn't see my issue brought up in this topic so I figured it would be best to ask what i should do here.
I am extremely new to this(I always used the free boards where all you have to do is click on something to enable it) so this is a bit harder for me. I looked at the Package Parser for this mod but I don't even want to try to work with that much code at this stage. I'm hoping someone can point me in the direction where I can possibly remove another mod in order to get this one to work(another mod with much less code to edit/replace :) ).
if someone could help me with this I'd greatly appreiate it. thank you.
oh yeah, I'm using SMF Core with a custom CSS in case that matters.
you have so many mods installed that you are almost always going to have at least one (if not more) file fail for future mods.
This means that you will have to apply the code manually to any file that fails.
Can / will this mod be amended so that there can be a limit on the number of total links in the signature?
i cant se the sig settings in the features page i get these

You can use it on newer SMF versions at your own risk by using version emulate:
Put ;emulate_version=1.1.3 at the end of the Package Manager URL

OK...I had thought you were saying that you'd tried the mod and it didn't work because it wasn't for the version of SMF you are using...the fix for that is the one I gave. In this case the mod is already able to work for your version of SMF (it supports 1.1 - 1.1.99 though only up to 1.1.3 is mentioned on the mods page) so it ignored the extra line I had you add...no harm done.
Just add the mod as normal and it will work.
I have a question:
Having this MOD installed and working perfectly, I find that there are images from photobucket and imageshack that have the [img width=xxx length=xxx] that don't respect the limits imposed using the MOD... the problem is that I can't erase the width and length by hand because they always come back after saving the changes...
Isn't there a way this MOD can go around this or is there some way to get rid of this width and length thing?

I think it's fair that I bump this.
I have installed the mod in SMF 1.1.4 and it installed successfully.
The problem I'm having is when the signature is big because the box where it is stored expands and messes up the template....
Any ideas? ???
This mod is not working for me.
I click on the message:
Note that settings are not applied to existing signatures by default. Click here to apply rules to all existing signatures.
But nothing happens, the message is still there and no one can post html.
And smf 1.1.4? :(
I did a search for this in this mod and can't find it anywhere... please help, I can't use my forums because of this error that this mod has caused.
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare template_edit_signature_settings() (previously declared in /home/tpruess/public_html/smf/Sources/Load.php(1773) : eval()'d code:1123) in /home/tpruess/public_html/smf/Sources/Load.php(1773) : eval()'d code on line 1324
I figured it out...code had gotten doubled somewhere along the lines. I went to the free package parser by SMF Hacks and am working on getting it fixed.
I have tried installing this mod and I get this error message.
Error in Package Installation
At least one error was encountered during a test installation of this package. It is strongly recommended that you do not continue with installation unless you know what you are doing, and have made a backup very recently. This error may be caused by a conflict between the package you're trying to install and another package you have already installed, an error in the package, a package which requires another package that you don't have installed yet, or a package designed for another version of SMF.
Also, the install actions shows me this.
Installing this package will perform the following actions:
Type Action Description
1. Execute Code install.php
2. Execute Modification ./Sources/ModSettings.php Test successful
3. Execute Modification ./Themes/default/Admin.template.php Test successful
4. Execute Modification ./Themes/default/languages/ModSettings.english.php Test successful

Now I could have sworn when I first loaded SMF up it had the feature already but I don't remember..
I installed the mod for Display Signatures Only Once Per Page
would that have anything to do with it???
And my current version is Current SMF version: SMF 1.1.4

ook.. how do I edit that file, and what to I hae to edit it to?
Firstly use ftp to get the file from your server and bring it to your local machine...edit it using a text editor or a proper programming editor (a couple to consider http://www.context.cx/ (http://www.context.cx/) http://www.mpsoftware.dk/downloads.php (http://www.mpsoftware.dk/downloads.php)...at a pinch notepad will do. use the following links to see what the mod adds to that file and you will then be able to see that the other mod inserted code at the same point as an edit this mod seeks to use...work around that and edit the rest of the file according to the mods requirements...it really isn't difficult.

If you are using a custom theme then you will have to manually edit the mod into it...this is true of almost all mods...and anything other than the SMF default theme is a custom theme.
Also:
You need to go to ACP>Server Settings and set your forum language to English and not English utf8 and to ACP>Features and Options>Basic Settings and uncheck Enable user-selectable language support.

You seem to have failed to understand the basics of this system...mysql is the SQL database system used to run your forum. You might backup your SMF database by using phpMyadmin or the inbuilt database backup system in your forum or other software. This would not do anything at all to backup your forum files hence my again and again asking you to backup your database and your files. Yet again you need to backup your database and your files! You should not add or remove themes, mods or other edits to your forum without first doing a backup of your database
and your files!
Please follow the details the Package Parser has given you and, as Kindred pointed out, only alter the duplications of the code shown as edits in the Package Parser report....if the code in question isn't there as a result of a duplication of an edit done by this mod as shown in the Package Parser report don't alter it...if it is a duplication remove one instance of the duplicate.

So backing up my files through phpmyadmin does nothing?? so what's the point? if I can't figure this out, why wouldn't I be able to just load the back up and start over?
My thing with THIS particular mod, is I found the end of the file the parser told me, and then it keeps going, I don't know if THAT is what the duplicate is or if it's suppose to keep going like it is..
when I say I'm new to this I mean VERY new to this.. computers aren't my strongest area (which is why I'm trying to learn it) you give me a car, and I'll tear it apart and put it back together with no problems.. computers not so much. so I apologize if it's aggravating, but I can assure you, I'm more aggravated then you are right now.
phpmyadmin backs up the DATABASE.
The database is the specifics of your site: your users, posts, settings, etc.
the data in the database is displayed by use of the FILES. These are the *.php files, and they are not backed up or affected by the stuff that you do in the database. To back up the files, you just take a copy of them using your ftp program.
A this point, without knowing what exactly you may have done, I suggest that you download a fresh installation of SMF.
Then take a copy of the Settings.php file from your site (save it somewhere)
Upload and overwrite all of the files in the installation archive.
re-upload your saved copy of Settings.php
You now have a clean install, without any mods... but all of your DATA is preserved.

does the settings also keep the memberlist? or would I have to re enter all the members?
Your memberlist and all postings, records, etc are in your database...as Kindred said it contains your users details and that is what your memberlist is.

so if I reload my database now, will I still have the issues I'm having? just curious I'm pretty sure I know the answer to it.
If you have done as advised by Kindred and are now working with a fresh set of files you won't have files related issues...that said if there were pre-existing issues in your database due to whatever has occured to/with/regarding it they would still be there as you aren't altering your database.
The issues you have had regarding this particular mod should now be resolved.
So if I do as said above, will I lose my member list and posts and all that stuff? I'm assuming no, but you know what they say about assuming.
As Kindred indicated your userdata (including member list, posts and almost everything else you input into a running forum) is stored in your database so changing your files for a new set will have no effect on it. To use your motoring analogy changing the starter motor won't make the back wheels fall off.
lol! good analogy. Ok, thanks! I'm going to give it a shot later today.
OK, I was able to fix everything, and for that I thank you all very much.
I do have one question about backing up.. I will be doing my back ups once a month unless I add a mod of course, when I do THAT back up, to I just back up the databases once a month? or is there something else I need to back up also?

Well, i've installed the mod, translated it to portuguese and worked without a problem, no bugs... but i've been trying to limit the signatures to 20x20, but if i select a signature superior to that it's not applying the rule why? :(
Please first switch to the SMF default theme and English language then try it again...if it works then there must be an issue with either your translation of edits to your custom theme.
Yes, i tried in english and default but it doesn't work too :\
Please see reply #158 on this topic...if yours is a problem with oversize externally hosted images it is a known issue...the size limitation only works with images hosted on your forum.

Is there any mod that limits the size for images hosted outside the forum?
Is it possible to create one?

you installed the mod twice. You can manually fix this the same way you would manually install/uninstall. Go to all the files modified by the mod and change them back.
@ LinkinParkBoy
I don't know of one and given that other resizing is done via use of GD and that will only work with images hosted on the same server as it is on that would not be able to do the task.
Is there a way to disallow images in signatures with this mod... by the way I love mod.
No...but there is another mod that does what you require.
Quote from: TrueSatan on December 19, 2007, 04:22:55 AM
No...but there is another mod that does what you require.
They should combine several mods to just one for signatures, removal of images, allow signatures to only show once, etc....
I am having some issues with this mod in terms of the signature images.
I set the feature to allow only 3 images in a signature at the same time. However, when I save my signature with 4 images, it doesn't do anything - it just allows those 4 images to stay.
When I set the feature to allow only size 500x200 pixels and save an image that is of a bigger size than that, it just saves the signature without resizing.
The thing is, the settings are applied when I click this link:
QuoteNote that settings are not applied to existing signatures by default. Click here to apply rules to all existing signatures.
When I have more than 3 images in my signature, it will remove -all- images from the signature. And oversized images will be properly resized.
I am using SMF 1.1.4 on a custom theme with these mods:
1. vReportBoard Mod 1.03 [ Uninstall ] [ List Files ] [ Delete ]
2. YouTube BBCode 1.9 [ Uninstall ] [ List Files ] [ Delete ]
3. SMF Arcade 2.0.11 [ Uninstall ] [ List Files ] [ Delete ]
4. Invite 1.14 [ Uninstall ] [ List Files ] [ Delete ]
5. delete inactive users 1.0.3 [ Uninstall ] [ List Files ] [ Delete ]
6. Custom Profile Field Mod 3.17 [ Uninstall ] [ List Files ] [ Delete ]
7. Membergroup Color Legend 1.1 [ Uninstall ] [ List Files ] [ Delete ]
8. Signature Settings Mod 1.1 [ Uninstall ] [ List Files ] [ Delete ]
Any help would be appreciated, thank you. :)
@ Sadil
The mod is doing as it should from what you say...your signature is an existing one although you are altering it so the mod will only affect it when you tell it to apply the rules you have set to existing signatures. You should, in any case, test it in the SMF default theme to see if any remaining issues you may have are present there.
Uhm.. It doesn't make changes even when I alter my signature AFTER I applied the settings. Is that what it's supposed to do?
I have the settings enabled now. So if I go change my signature now, it basically doesn't apply the settings at all unless I click "Click here to apply the settings to existing signatures"... It kind of seems to defeat the point.. o.o
It's to do with the software used to alter the images...it uses GD which is an extension to the PHP install on your server. If you hadn't got a signature setup at all then it would apply the rules you set when you created a new signature but for it to work with a signature that already exists but is being altered you do have to click that link.
It's not pointless...it handles new signatures without you having to do other than set the rules for handling them...certainly that makes it somewhat more friendly on a new board with no existing signatures but it's not usually a great hardship.
Ahh, I see. So people who join now and edit their signature will have these settings applied to their signature. Will this continue to take effect even when they go and edit it again? Or will it then discard these settings again?
To be perfectly honest I haven't used the mod for some time so I'd have to put it on a test forum to find out...you might do this for yourself as it would then let you pull the mod about without causing problems on your main/live/production forum.
Ah, no it doesn't... I just tested it with a Test Account. The first time I created the signature, it worked fine. The second edit however no longer applied the settings.
Which, quite frankly, makes this mod totally useless. Everybody changes their signature at least once. And having to routinely click "here" to apply the changes defeats the purpose of having this mod. :-\
The limitations of GD (the image handling extension to PHP used for image resizing in SMF and its mods) would make it very difficult (I hate saying impossible as the chances are that if I do some bright spark will prove me wrong) to have an automatic resize etc of an existing image or images.
Sorry it doesn't fit your needs.

It's not that it doesn't change the size of an
existing images in a signature. It's that when I empty the signature out, save the signature, and then go back to edit and insert the image in a new/empty signature after first time saving that it doesn't resize the image.
I'm not a coder so I may be wrong, but isn't it almost exactly the same as how the board itself handles resizing images? Every time you add a new image into a post and it exceeds the limits you set, it resizes the image to a smaller size. That's what the signature mod only does the first time the signature gets saved, after that any edits won't go through the settings anymore. The board however applies these changes for as long as the settings are there.
Just thought it would be as easy as taking that code and applying it to signature. But then again, I've no clue how hard that would be.
It's not as easy as it sounds...hence the way this mod is written...maybe your postings will attract somebody who can find a way round it...time will tell.
Maybe easier than using this mod but,
I've installed it only to remove ALL signatures. Unchecked box and click on 'apply on all signatures'... And they didn't disappeared.
So, what can I do?
I suppose it would be easier edit a little code, but I don't know how to do it...
Can anybody help me, please?
You have to click the link at the top to apply it to all current signatures. Otherwise it only affects new ones.
Wondering if it was possible to see some options for usergroups in the next version. For example allow/disallow image sigs for certain groups and allow/disallow text sigs for certain groups. Just a though...
This mod is actually a backport of a default feature in 2.0. There will not be another version as well for that same reason (Though this isn't an offical word, just a big guess).
If you would like to see the feature expanded in 2.0, you should post that request in feature requests :)

This mod isn't working for me. Something that I haven't been able to locate is overriding the settings. I can't get signatures that are more than 200px long and 20 pix high. Any suggestions?

anyone know how to fix this?
why the installer doesn't work on 1.1.2? if I install it manually, it does work....
you really need to upgrade to 1.1.5

Otherwise, you have to extract the queries out of the php statements.

why can't i apply the settings to everyone, it always freezes around 31% or so...
any clues why? how do i fix this?
Have you given it time to do its work?
Is there an error in the error log?
I am using version 1.1.5 right now and after I installed the mod, got this error immediately anytime I use an admin function:
"

I looked through the file (Load.php) and didn't even see a function entitled "template_edit_signature_settings()".
What do I do? I can't get to anything on the admin side.
you apparently installed the mod twice.
You will have to manually edit the various files to remove the duplicate installed code...
(note, I doubt that the actual duplicate code is in load.php, that's just when the error appears.
Sounds like the duplicate is in one of the template files... possible admin.template.php, but look at the manual mod instructions for details on what might have been duplicated.

And I am running in English (the only option available to me in the Server Settings).
my board: http://mgmtforum.com/index.php
Anyone have a clue whats going on here?
Any help offered would be greatly appreciated!
Fnglish UTF-8 is not the same as English.
Most mods only install in English by default
I have read this entire thread and know that English UTF-8 is NOT the same as English which is why I mentioned that I am running in English (as far as I know). Unless the drop down menu in the server settings which tells me that I am running in ENGLISH is incorrect or incomplete in some way -- I am running in English. If there is a secret here let me know. Maybe the drop down is giving me incomplete info.
If not, I would very much like to hear some other solutions, if any of you have the time to offer some.
Thanks for the help so far, btw.

Does this mod allow signature settings by membergroup?
I assume,it doesn't
Hello all, this mod appears to be just what i need. I have a couple of issues that I do not see resolutions for. I have SMF 1.1.8, and am using a custom (Classic) theme. When i auto-installed the package, and all tests were successful with the exception of:
Execute Modification ./Sources/ModSettings.php Test failed
No problem, I went ahead and installed that manually. Now in theory everything should be functioning. Here are my two problems:
1: In the admin area of my custom theme, in the "Features & Options" section, there is not a new link for "Signatures". I DO see two vertical pipes directly next to each other at the end of the horizontal menu, which tells me that SOMETHING is supposed to be in between them, i am assuming it is the Signatures link:'
" Basic Features | Layout and Options | Custom Profile Fields | Aeva | Aeva Sites | Karma | | "
Is someone familiar enough with the admin to tell me what file i should look at for the above link?
2: My second problem (which may be related to the first). Ok, so the first problem didn't work in my custom theme, so I switched the forum theme back to the Default, and Presto, the link/icon for the Signatures was now in the "Featuers & Options" section. But when I click on the Signatures link, the main Features page simply refreshes. It does not take me to the Signatures admin.
Thanx in advance for any insight to this.

So, if I understand OK it is not working for 1.1.8 ? :(
It works with 1.1.8 very well. I only updated Display.template.php from my particular theme.
However, I believe if there is a space in the image name, the MOD fails to resize the image properly. Can someone please confirm? Thanks.
EDIT: My bad. No problem when there is a space between file names! Sorry :)
QuotePlease see reply #158 on this topic...if yours is a problem with oversize externally hosted images it is a known issue...the size limitation only works with images hosted on your forum.
Is this still a problem?
Also, someone wrote that it doesn't work when profile is changed second time.
We are still busy doing internal testing on our forum but so far the MOD has been doing everything that was designed for.
Although we don't allow our regular users to upload anything to our server, but the images either hosted on our own server or external sites resized with no issue.
FWIW, we used this site to http://www.e-imagesite.com/index.php to test the images. I will check other reported image site shortly.
In regards to changing profile for the 2nd time, I am not so sure if I understand it, but as part of our testing, yes we made some updates to different profiles. All the images in signatures stayed the way we wanted to.
Hope this answered your concerns.
Thanks. I had a problem with testing becouse I am administrator. Settings don't work for me so I tought that mod is not working. :)
It is working but it seems that there is a bug. My setting is:
Maximum amount of lines: 3
If user put 5 lines in signature than he end up with 4 line signature.
I chose to limit the number of characters as well as image and smilies. Maybe, someone else could help with your issue. We are pretty happy with this configuration though.
Oh, maybe just maybe, it depends on the screen resolution! I am thinking a 3 lines signature would show more lines when displayed on a smaller size screen. Something to test.
Hi. First off, I want to say thanks for the great mod.
We have an issue where it's scaling tickers in the signature to a max width of 350 pixels, but the setting in the admin panel is set to 400 pixels. At one time, we had it set to 350, but we changed it and have applied the new settings several times to no avail.
It seems like it's stuck at the old setting. Where can I look to fix this?
I tried the mod V 2.3 with a 1.1.8. I changed permissions to view ads and everything else I could get from the forum but am too computer illiterate to get it to work.

In order to apply the new settings, ie; size and etc., you'd need to go to:
Admin -> Features and Options -> Signature Settings
Look for the following line in red on top and click on "here":
Note that settings are not applied to existing signatures by default. Click here to apply rules to all existing signatures. If still doesn't work, I usually click on save button couple of time and again click on "here" link. Then, it works.

This is a very easy MOD when it comes to get it work with almost any theme and or configuration. You'd need to give more details about your issue there. Simply saying it doesn't work, well .... won't help :)
I'm using SMF 1.1.8 - English language, with last Signature Setting Mod
One of my user is trying to set this signature:
[img]http://img217.imageshack.us/img217/1882/miscelanea43yi1.gif[/img][img]http://img263.imageshack.us/img263/5271/emoticonzodiacali09dh6.gif[/img][img]http://img392.imageshack.us/img392/1094/4953895cu1.gif[/img][size=14pt][color=blue]La vita je' na f'tecchia......la morta je' na sc'kfezza!!!......Com c'ama cumpurta'???!!![/color][/size]
but he obtains this "Database error" message:
QuotePlease try again. If you come back to this error screen, report the error to an administrator.
In the "Forum Error Log" I read:
Database Error: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'na f'tecchia......la morta je' na sc'kfezza!!!......Com c'ama cumpurta'???!!![/c' at line 12
File: /usr/local/psa/home/vhosts/*****.it/httpdocs/new/smf/Sources/Subs.php
Line: 631
I obtain the same error with many other signatures... I noticed they all contain the apostrophe symbol
'
These are the settings of the mod:
Maximum allowed characters: 0
Maximum amount of lines: 0
Maximum image count: 0
Maximum smiley count: 0
Maximum width of signature images: 300
Maximum height of signature images: 30
Maximum font size allowed in signatures: 0
Enabled BCC: all
Please can someone test if that signature causes problem on other forums? (note that the signature must be set by non-admin user)
If someone is interested I can post other signatures which causes errors.
it does not like those single quotes...
This is another example of non-accepted signature:
[url=http://it.youtube.com/watch?v=iOZmt7BtdXA]Quando si giocava al calcio per pura passione[/url]
[url=http://it.youtube.com/watch?v=VwOr5iCcabU]C'era una volta San Nicandro dal bianco e nero al colore![/url]

[img]http://img220.imageshack.us/img220/1564/bandieradellapacebl1.jpg[/img]
The user obtains this Database error:

Line: 631
As you can see in this signature there are some apostrophes, too.
right... so we have determined the error and the cause.... listing more errors will not be helpful, since it's all the same issue.
I will leave it to someone who actually knows SQL to indicate a fix.... since I suspect that the problem is in the SQL statement and escaping the quotes.
Thank you Kindred ;)
Your error message is not the MOD's fault. It's the limitation, or actually, it's how MySQL works. Just to get the point here is what needs to be done.
For each and every ' (apostrophe), add one extra! Example:
[img]http://img217.imageshack.us/img217/1882/miscelanea43yi1.gif[/img][img]http://img263.imageshack.us/img263/5271/emoticonzodiacali09dh6.gif[/img][img]http://img392.imageshack.us/img392/1094/4953895cu1.gif[/img][size=14pt][color=blue]La vita je'' na f''tecchia......la morta je'' na sc''kfezza!!!......Com c''ama cumpurta''???!!![/color][/size]
You see those double ''. Now, when you save this, you won't get any error message on that. BUT, if you go back and look at it, you'll see single ' !!! If you try to save this, you'll get the same error message. I have no solution for this, other than repeating the same step above.
Thanks for your reply R.Bourne... but please note, this signature works:
[size=14pt][color=blue]La vita je' na f'tecchia......la morta je' na sc'kfezza!!!......Com c'ama cumpurta'???!!![/color][/size]
I leaved the singole aposthopes but I removed the images.
Isn't it strange? If the problem is a limitation of MYSL, why the above signature works? :o

Yes it is. I actually tried all your signature codes in your previous posts and they worked fine here including the one with images. On my forum, every time someone complains, it's due to having a single '. I have no further suggestion.
Hello
My problem is it is not resizing the images that are hosted in the forum, images that people upload to the forum and then place as their signature. Images hosted outside it resizes with no problem.
I would really appreciate it if someone could help me.
fairytears, Please stop deleting your previous message and re-posting the same thing. Do you think it's going to attract any more attention?
No, I'm just hoping someone that knows a solution sees it and replies ::)

for some reason this mod doesnt seem to work....
I have same problem
Using SMF 119 and last version of this mod :-\
Note that settings are not applied to existing signatures by default. Click here to apply rules to all existing signatures.
not working for me :(
I just installed this mod. Thanks a lot.
Still, i noticed the same problem as rparlett. The height change only happened once. Now, if i want to change it again it won't, even though i click save and the apply "here" link a lot of times. Any solution to this?

I have the same problem, except the external images resize fine, but the ones that people upload directly to the forum, don't ::)
Any support for this? Ive installed it and dont see it anywhere in the admin side. If i manually edit all the files.... What exactly does this mean
install.php
This file should not be able to execute standalone. You may have to run the following queries manually.
Query: [Select]
INSERT IGNORE INTO {$db_prefix}settings
(variable, value)
VALUES
('signature_settings', '1,$modSettings[max_signatureLength],0,0,0,0,0,0:')
just installed this.
first did it automatically through the package manager.
got this error:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_CONSTANT_ENCAPSED_STRING, expecting ')' in /..../..../..../..../forums/Sources/ModSettings.php on line 126
ao then i manually edited all files, ftp'd em up to my server overwriting all current files.
still got same error.
I have checked and double checked all the files taht are modified according to the parser and I made sure that I edited my custom theme files manually and correctly and all seems good.
I am running SMF 1.1.10 and I also have the UlitimateProfile mod installed (not sure if it matters but figured Id include this info incase it does)
Can someone please help me get this working?
This mod no longer being supported or what?
Asked a question a week ago and no response yet?
Really wish I had looked here before going through the trouble of installing this.
I installed it on 1.1.10 and like everyone else, this is NOT working correctly.
NONE of the settings are working UNLESS I click to apply it to existing signatures, and save. Not very helpful.
Anyway to make this work on NEW signatures?
*EDIT* Uninstalled it. Perhaps this one should be listed as unsupported.
*EDIT* Now that I've installed about 6 other mods, someone has pointed out that signatures are not on the forum anymore. There is no area in the profile to add them either!
Eveytime i use this: Note that settings are not applied to existing signatures by default. Click here to apply rules to all existing signatures.
It will always display this error... what should i do?

Can you please tell, did you first save the new settings, then clicked "here" to apply the current settings to all?
It worked for me just fine, doing this. With no modification.
If not, please can you tell exactly what settings were before and after, and weren't applied?
About support: I'm sorry for the delay. The mod will most likely be supported, though. Many of the team however work more on 2.0, since it's the currently active version, but we will try to test and keep up to date 1.1.x mods as well.
I hope someone is still around to give me some help.
I just installed the new version for 1.1.11 and it says that the install was successful. However when I go to Admin > features and options, there is no signature setting there.
Advice anyone?
Do you use a custom theme by any chance?
Do you use another language than English? You may need to add the edits specified in the mod's page (click 'parse' to see them) to your language files, if not English.
No custom themes and English only. Just straight SMF with no fancy do-dads. This is why I'm so confused with this one.
Can you please verify if the edits were truly applied? If you go to the mod's page, and click 'parse', you should see a list with all edits the mod does to your files (or should have done). Please download a few of the files pointed out there, and open them, and check if the code of the mod was really added in them.
I have no idea if they're loaded or not. I don't know anything about script. I copied a little piece of what I saw. Does this help:
$txt['whois_ripe'] = 'RIPE (Europe, the Middle East and parts of Africa and Asia)';$txt['profile_error_signature_max_length'] = 'Your signature cannot be greater than %1$d characters';$txt['profile_error_signature_max_lines'] = 'Your signature cannot span more than %d lines';$txt['profile_error_signature_max_image_size'] = 'Images in your signature must be no greater than %1$dx%2$d pixels';$txt['profile_error_signature_max_image_width'] = 'Images in your signature must be no wider than %1$d pixels';$txt['profile_error_signature_max_image_height'] = 'Images in your signature must be no higher than %1$d pixels';
As far as I can tell, this is the only section that has errors, but I could be wrong.
Can you please attach that file here?
Here's the whole thing. Hope it helps
That is not what I meant...
Please do this: look at this file or at the mod's page, after you clicked "parse" (what you attached, it's exactly the text on the mod's page after you clicked "parse", right?) and see everything it says, for example it says:

'title' => $txt['smf293'],
'href' => $scripturl . '?action=featuresettings;sa=karma;sesc=' . $context['session_id'],

So, what these instructions mean is that in your SMF folder, there's a file Sources/ModSettings.php, and you can download that file on your computer (using a FTP client, or your host's File Manager, if they offer one - How do I use FTP? / What is FTP? (http://docs.simplemachines.org/index.php?topic=480.0))
Then, open it in a code editor (like Notepad++ if you're on windows.) You can open it in other text editors, but please note that some editors, when they save files, they add some characters or code to the files, that wasn't there before (you may not see, but they do). And that code may break their functionality, so it's better if you consider using something simple like Notepad++ (that's not exactly Notepad).
And, search in it, exactly what the instruction above says: if you can find the first code, but not the second, then the instruction was not executed by the installation of the mod, even though it said it did...
Same for the next instruction (the next "find" and "replace" or "add" instruction you can see on the page).
The question is, were your files really edited?
If you want, you can post as attachment here your file ModSettings.php, and I can take a look to see if it has those first edits in it.
Sorry about that. Let's try this one.
Can you please consider using a common format for the files posted? Like, please post the .php file(s) as they are, or, use .zip to archive them. Not .zipx, which is a quite new format and apparently only specific Windows proprietary tools can open it.
Okay, next try. Wish I was better with computers. Let me know if this is what you need.
Thank you. :)
Okay, so as far as I can tell, the mod was not installed. Did you click "Apply mod" in Package Manager, and was the message that installation was successful... or were there errors?
This is what I get when I try to install it:

Since I really don't know what I'm doing, I stopped here.
Ah, okay. So you didn't install the mod.
Please, then: Go in package manager in SMF.
Then, grab the file I attach to this post, and please use FTP to place it into SMF's Sources folder, replacing yours with this one. Please make a copy of yours first. It's not tested, it'd be good to keep a copy of your original file, and replace it back if there are problems.
Then, go back to SMF and hit "Apply mod", then hit install.
Even if another error is in ModSettings.php, please do install.
Then, see if it works.
If it does not work, and you are experiencing errors, there may be other problems than just these I saw for now.
In that case, option 1: please attach your ModSettings.php, after the installation, here, for us to see what is still missing in it, or not expected.
Option 2: check yourself all the edits the mod does in ModSettings.php (and if these are okay, check the rest of files from the mod's manual installation page), and if one of them is not done, please try doing it yourself. (how to do the edits: try finding the code the instruction says to "find", and replace it with the code it says to "replace", or add after it the code it says to "add after" or add before the code it says to "add before").
Option 3: try uninstalling the mod, even if it has some error in ModSettings.php, and then revert to ModSettings.php that you have right now (replace the copy of the current file).
Option 4: see that in the folder Packages/backups, in your SMF folder, there are some packages with names containing the name of mods and a date. One of them is the backup made by SMF when you try to install the Signature Settings mod. Download that file, de-archive it, and FTP the files in it back to your SMF folder, replacing your files with those from the archive. That should restore you back to the situation before the attempted installation.
I hope none of these last will be necessary. :)
I am mentioning them because tomorrow at least, I may be unable to be online at all, so it's just for you to know, the options to solve the common cases that may happen.
Okay, I installed it and the Signature Settings icon is there, but when I press the icon it takes me back to Basic Features.
Here are the new php files.
Do you have errors in your error log? If so, please post them here.
This is the only one I see but don't know what it relates to:
8: Undefined variable: filename2
File: /home2/ladyofth/public_html/forum-3/Themes/default/languages/Post.english.php (main sub template - eval?)
Line: 889
Please install this mod: http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=2054 and tick the checkbox as shown in its screenshot. Then eventually, please try going to the Signature Settings page again, then check the error log.
Please paste here the (new) error(s) in the log, if any.
I didn't get any checkbox, it just installed by itself. Same error and still me back to basic features.
After you installed it, it adds a checkox in admin interface (please see the screenshots). After you check that box, and redo the operation perhaps there will be some other error in the log.
Being the neophite that I am, I installed it but still can't find any screenshots. Can you give me exact directions as to where I find these?
Sorry to be so much trouble and I certainly appreciate your help with this.
I was referring to the screenshots posted on the mod's download page: http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=2054, they show where the checkbox to tick is.
Okay, found the setting and clicked on it. But now it won't uninstall. It tells me that a hacker is trying to get into my system.
Which mod won't uninstall?
Can you please first look at Signature settings again, then in the error log, and post the errors?
Then, about uninstall, please tell what mod, and a screenshot may help as well.
Will this mod be compatible with 2.0 RC3 at all.
Same error. Nothing new.

No, there is no need to. SMF 2.0 already has these features as core features. (the signature settings)

Also: please empty your error log. Then, go to Signature Settings page in Admin, and click on Signature Settings.
Then, verify your error log again.
If you have errors, they should not be identical to the other one, please do tell which they are.
Clicked on enable output.
Clicked on template evaluation.
The Signature Settings button is now missing.
No different errors in error file.
The Signature Settings button is now missing? The Signature Settings has nothing to do with the other mod... What else happened, that it's now missing...?
They are both back for some reason. Strange. But the rest still stands as before. No new error messages and still doesn't work.
Please, use the attached file, replacing yours. Do make sure you keep a backup copy of your own file, and replace it back in case anything goes wrong.
In order to replace your file with this one: please download and keep safe your file in Sources/ModSettings.php, then, download the attached file, named ModSettings.php (please keep the same case), and make sure to upload it to your SMF folder, Sources subfolder, replacing yours.

Thanks for any help.
as has been answered in nearly every mod thread... a failed file just means that the auto install can not work. You would have to manually install the mod in those files because something else has likely already changed that portion.
After having numerous problems with manual install, I tried it the way it was designed to be installed. I was hoping for some help.
Thanks.

Thanks again.
I understand that you may have had problems.... but the ONLY way around the failed installation in those files is to manually apply the changes to those files. Something (likely some other mod) has changed those files in such a way that the auto-installer can not match the code that it needs to find.
Thanks you've been lots of help.
Thank you for all your help here, but NO mod is worth all this trouble. I give up.

What wodema said...
Sorry to hear it didn't help (if you tried, or so I understand).
In any case, this is standard feature in SMF 2.0, as opposed to a mod in 1.1.x, and can be used without installing anything then, after you will eventually make the switch.
This mod works great.
one question, I have resized everyone's signature to 200 pixels, but now I am changing my mind, I want to increase it to 250 pixels, but when i click on
"Note that settings are not applied to existing signatures by default. Click here to apply rules to all existing signatures."
it doesn't do anything. Can you apply this more than once?
You should be able. When you click on it, did you go to ur profile settings to check?

i installed this mod 2 times accidentaly now i got message whenever i try to access ADMIN cannot redeclare bla bla bla at line bla bla bla can some one tell me what files does it modify and what entries shld i remove from each file thanx :)
Edit:- U know what screw this it needs improvement so i uninstalled it :(
So how do you fix it when you accidentally do this? I ran across this issue as well.
But here's what I'm getting now. It was just blocking access to the admin section at first.
Connection Problems
Sorry, SMF was unable to connect to the database. This may be caused by the server being busy. Please try again later.
when you get the redeclare error, it means that you installed (at least) twice.
You will have to manually go through the edited files and remove the duplicated code(s)
I manually went through the files and deleted duplicate information.
And then for some reason my database was gone.
I just had my hosting company do a restore on my site.
your DATABASE was gone?
There is nothing in SMF at all that can do that...
I think it just happened at the wrong time.
I just had my hosting company restore from a backup. Then I installed a bunch of mods.
I deleted their backup directory after everything was running smooth.
Then installed a couple more mods. And then I had an error with that mod, and boom the database said 0kb.
It must have still been in or attached somehow to the backup directory they made before the restore.

I have the same error!
I need this mod on!
Can you please tell, did you first save the new settings, then clicked "here" to apply the current settings to all?
It worked for me just fine, doing this. With no modification.
If not, please can you tell exactly what settings were before and after, and weren't applied?
This specific feature has been broken ever since, I think. The script goes on to 2 or 4% and then it just stops and nothing happens, meaning for instance, if you set font-size limits they won't be apllied to the existing signatures. As for new signatures, the MOD works fine and does what is supposed to do.
It can't be that difficult to update/correct this little bug, could you guys please take a look at that part of the code and try to fix it?
New question on this mod or maybe it's already noted in the 19 pages of posts.
I want to eliminate images in signatures but with this mod I can't set it to zero as that is the default for 'no limit' on images. Any thoughts on how to eliminate images in signatures?
TIA,
-SeaChaser.
You can't just remove the img BBC tag option?
Hello.
Sorry to bump this old topic...
I am using SMF 1.1.16. I have uninstall/reinstalled this package a couple of times without any trouble. The problem is that it does not show up in Features and Options.
Any ideas on why it's not there. I realize that this is probably something simple, so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
You should have a tab that is added to the menu when you are in the features and options section. Can you post a screenshot when you are on that page?
Also, does the mod show that it is installed in the package manager?

Would it have anything to do with file permissions? This same problem seems to be happening with most mods that I am installing.
That is probably what the problem is, especially if you are having the same or similar problems with other mods. If you can't install the package through the package manager, you may have to try to install it manually.

It appears to install fine with the package manager (I get all of the confirmation messages), but it just doesn't show up where it's supposed to in the admin area.

As I stated if the mod appears installed and its not its really a server problem. Especially if that happens with other mods. You'll have to install manually, or figure out why your server is not editing all the files.
Excellent modification, thank you.
