This SMF modification uses member groups for managing MVPs.  The naming
convention for MVP groups is MVP##.# where ##.# is the number of the board
a user is MVP in.  This will allow you to have per-board MVPs, and single
users can be MVPs of multiple boards.  Additionally, if a user is in group
MVP (with no board id) they are board-wide MVP (MVP on every board).

Note:  Groups should be added as "Regular groups" and are case-sensitive!

Recognition is MVP title and 5 special stars.

i use board 1.0 as an example

yes, you need to add the group MVP1.0 where the 1.0 reflects the board you with to have the MVP in. then you need to add the user you with to be MVP of that board to the membergroup MVP1.0

are you using the default theme? becuase it worked for me when i tested it. I made 2 MVP groups for 2 different boards and each worked fine. I also tested forum wide MVP as well, worked fine.

Could we possibly get this to auto enter a MVP for the top poster in each board? For the selected boards in the admin panel, under feature requests? That would make this mod MVM Most Valeable Mod lmfao

Simply create a regular group named MVP and add people to that group and they will be displayed as MVP (and get 5 unique stars) where ever they post on your forum.

Create groups named MVP##.# where ##.# is the board id of the board you want assigned users to be MVP in.

This modification allows you to assign different MVPs on different boards.  So, for example, if you have a board named General English Support (9.0) and SMF Coding Discussion (60.0), and you want valueable people to be recognized when they post in the General English Support board, then you would add them to a group called MVP9.0.  Also, if there are others that you want to be recognized in the SMF Coding Discussion board, then you would add them to group MVP60.0 (note: these groups need to be created first).  Users will only be displayed with MVP title and stars when they post in boards which they are MVP of (unless they're board-wide MVP).  Hope that clarifies things.

Well, top poster is determined based on post count.  That is not what MVP is about.  MVP means Most Valueable Poster--this is a honorary role that would be awarded to valueable community members of your forum.  It's up to you how you decide who deserves to be MVP and on what boards, this modification just gives you the flexibility to assign them per-board.

How is star number defined? 2 messages :5 stars, 200 messages: 5 stars , 1000 messages:5 stars  in my forum  so, all users were 5 stars.

This is a nice mod. I wanna offer some suggestions.

Any chance you will add a permission to allow a person with permissions to add MVP title, only add it to another member of the same membergroup?

Doesn't seem to be further supported but I will mention a suggestion anyway.
(maybe someone else will pick it up *I can't code, else i would do it*)

How about remove all the "requirements" and set it to recognize, on a daily basis, the most active poster using a calculation method something like length of time as member/number of post... using ave number of daily post as MVP
include a means to EXCLUDE/include admin/mods.. assuring normal users can be competitive and have a extra incentive to post.

It's supposed to just show "MVP" and not the ##.#.  Maybe you're using a theme that's not supported

Hello, i have a big hip hop forum, an i just wanted to install a few mods, i got the mvp mod in but when i click apply an error comes up:

What can i do ?? im new to yabb .. also, do i need to put the mod file in my cpanel for it to work? or is there some kind of code i have to fix?
