Hi,

I am using SMF 1.1.2 with SMF 1.1 Joomla Bridge 1.1.7.

After I installed JoomSEF extension for SMF, the email activation went a bit weird:

Quotehttp://forum.muslimways.com/smf/activate-u-1991-code-e5de40c380-should-you-have-any-problems-with-activation-please-use-the-code.html

Artio.cz told me "the URLs like this are a SMF problem, it needs patching the emailing source file" and "You can try fixing this by checking and correcting the translation files (and the mail handler source code)"

Please help!!

Unfortunately it managed to make the link go to activation page, but it requires the user to enter the activation code manually, which is problematic for novice users.

This is the email I get:

Turn off SEF in SMF.  If you wish to use SEF, turn it on in Joomla, not in SMF.

No change... but I realized this though:

QuoteBefore you can login, you first need to activate your account. To do so, please follow this link:

Should you have any problems with activation, please use the code "09a50ed192".

The part: http://forum.muslimways.com/smf/activate-u-2025-code-09a50ed192

does activate the account, but it's not a link. Is there anyway to edit the activating email, so I can edit out some of the parts and just have the link?

Turning off SEF in SMF is not going to change the email that has already been sent.

SEF is definitely still turned on in SMF.  Your bridge will not be able to work correctly with SEF turned on in SMF.

If you want your bridge to work, you will turn off SEF in SMF.  You don't get double bonus SEF for turning both SMF and Joomla SEF on.

What happens is this:  The bridge looks through the page code to find all of the regular SMF links, and rewrites them to Joomla links.  With SMF's SEF turned on, the bridge can't find the links to rewrite, so you don't get correct URLs, and especially not in things like outgoing emails.

OK, go here:

Click the link to the admin panel.

Click on Feature Settings.

Make sure the box labelled "Search engine friendly URLs" is unchecked.  Scroll to the bottom and Save that.
