Marking as read, in replies to your posts

I often use "Mark as read" when reading unread replies or unread posts.

But what about two seperate mark as read actions for ?action=unread and ?action=unreadreplies

When reading through a list of unread replies, I can view the ones I want, and then when I'm finished, hit the button to make the one or two I didn't want view, marked as read.  But by doing this I have also marked all the unread posts as read too.

I think the mark as read button in ?action=unreadreplies should only mark those few posts that are in that list, and not the rest of the ?action=unread posts.

It marks the boards read.  Just don't use the darn button if you don't want to mark things read...

Can the posts found with the 'unread posts' search have an included tick box like in your private messages?  That way you can go through and check those you want to just ignore but you don't mark everything as read.

I noticed that now in 6+ when you use "markasread" when viewing Show new replies to your posts. that it selects those threads only and marks them read.

I don't speak german, hebrew or many of the other languages, and would like the tick boxes to be able to weed out all of those posts.  I ask again, can a tick box be added to the posts listed in the unread posts search?

My personal view of this issue is that Mark As Read is a mislabeler, since now topics you haven't read look like you have.

I never use that button and probably never will. If you don't want to read something, just skip it, I don't find the new icon that annoying to suppress it.

I sometimes ignore a topic after reading the first few posts but grow more interested in it later. Had I marked it as read with the button, I'd have to look for the place I left it at. All the time I skip topics, but I like to know which they are.

Of course, this is just a comment, everyone has his/her own way of doing things. It's just that I felt like writting how I feel about this, dunno why. (^^;)
