Post the information from SMF Admin > Support and Credits > Version Information section.

Increasing thread_stack and upgrading MySQL can only be done by your host. Do you have root access to the server your forum is in?

I have access to the host. I am using Ubuntu Server 7.04. I have the following version of mysql:

mysql  Ver 14.12 Distrib 5.0.38, for pc-linux-gnu (i486) using readline 5.2

First, try increasing the size of thread_stack in /etc/mysql/my.cnf -- if you can't find the file there, do a slocate my.cnf.

From the error message, it looks like it is 128K (which should be enough in most cases, though apparently in this case it isn't). Increase it to 192K:

thread_stack = 192K

Save the file and restart MySQL server:

sudo /etc/init.d/mysql restart

Great to read that!

According to the latest replies in the bug report page linked to above, a bugfix is pushed into MySQL 5.0.44 (which is not yet available).
