Import Users and Posts from old to new installation

Someone help. I have spent the whole day trying to figure out what to do. I have just installed a new smf forum (ver 1.1.3) on the same server on another domain name. (note: I am not moving to another server). I have two domains on the server.

Basically, I want to import all the data from the old forum to the newly installed empty forum. I have used Import in PHPmyAdmi but I keep getting sql errors. I am so frustrated right now. I had to delete and start afresh many time. I have read several messages here but they all talk about migrating to anotehr server not importing from one domain to the other within the same server.

Is this also in the same exact account on the server? If so, just use repair_settings.php on that second domain folder and make sure that the database information is the same as the other one you have. Then click on the Recommended values. Save the changes. That should make that other forum operational.

For the question on importing backups (if you still need it after trying the above suggestion), what errors do you get? If it's a size limitation, try using restore_backup.php to restore your database. If that doesn't work, use BigDump to do this.

Thanks for your response. I forgot to add that I am running the new site on Joomla using JSMF bridge. I have installed the smf on the same database as the joomla. I dont know is this is why the data is not copying.
