Changed my superadmin password via Joomla and now cannot login for SMF.
Have FTP, Joomla SuperAdmin, but no SSH and No DB access because .org site is hosted on "donated" weirdly configured space.

Any way to recover this jazz or I have to kill + recreate the whole thing?

Joomla version?
SMF version?
Bridge version?

Changing your passwrod in Joomla typically does nothing to your SMF password.

Joomla 1.0.11
SMF 1.1
Bridge - how can I see which version it is (probably about year old)?

Bridge configuration at Joomla admin has "Mambo Super Admin" mapped to SMF's "admin", "global moderator" and "moderator" groups.
Bridge also has "Registration"->SMF Forum Integration->Use Mambo/Joomla registration.
Just for the clean experiment I created another Joomla superadmin - which *was* able to login to SMF forum as well, but I do not see how the new superadmin can administer SMF forum as well....

You'll need to change your password in SMF in order for it to change in Joomla.  Changing your password in Joomla will do nothing to your SMF password.

So back to my original question - is it possible to recover/reset SMF admin password having only FTP access to space?

(As I understand having Joomla's superadmin + bridge doesn't do any good)

Yes.  Go to your stand alone forum, and click "Forgot Password".

gesman

I did that - but i never got any emails with my password.
I beleive emailing facility is misconfigured within SMF as well.
I wonder if there is any file within SMF trees that holds config info about emailing settings? This i might be able to fix via FTP.

Orstio

No.  The settings are data, and therefore stored in the database.

You could access that with PhpMyAdmin, but not with FTP.
