Somethings that I would like to get changed if I switch

 I'm currently deciding on what to do, however SMF seems the better way to go if I jump ships from IPB. However, I don't like two things, maybe there are some mods to modify it?

1) Mail Link, there is a mail image below the member name, with the code mailto:[email protected] which can be used by Spam Bots. IPB has a feature to send an eMail FROM the FORUM and not giving them the actual address. Which is good.

2) IPB tells you when a bot is visiting your site, such as Google. I heard that phpBB is planning on adding that on 2.1.x (their new release) Is this possible on SMF?

3) When you Quote someone else's post it would be nice to have a box like IPBv2 has, can this be taken on a TODO? nor is there a mod for this?


Also a general question, Will the IPB converter move everything over to SMF nor I have to move something manually?

There are a few options to disallow displaying email addresses to guests.  So, unless bots start registering accounts and logging in (which they don't do) your email is secure.

I personally don't like this, but it wouldn't be a difficult mod at all.

It should move over everything, or most of everything.  It won't move over every last setting, I'm afraid... but if there's anything it misses, please do tell.

Oh, I read that wrong.  I thought he meant, on posting a separate box for the quoted text.
