Reading messages slow or time out?

After getting the main index to the board, I can usually click on one message and get the content very quickly. However, each request to read a message afterwards either takes 1+ minutes or times out.

I've setup a test account on our board if anyone has any ideas, I'd really appreciate the help:

I'm not sure what's making it slow (it feels slow for me...) but a good idea would be to upgrade to MySQL 4... if you/your host is willing to do that.

It's the current stable version, it's faster, it has query caching, and it's just generally more awesome.
