Main Page: Latest Topic not working when boards collapsed.

Hey Guys,
I have had some complaints from a few members who like to collapse the boards on the main page to save space. The problem is if they have Board A collapsed, and thats where the latest post is, all that shows up for latest post is 'Latest Post: "" ( )'. I just switched from YaBB 2.1 over to SMF (LOVING it so far BTW), and many members use this functionality.

Is there a way (Or a hack/mod) that will still show the latest posts even when the boards are collapsed?

smf version? Mods installed? URL?

Show the latest post on the main page in the Forum Stats area.

since that theme does not let me collapse the categories as a guest, can you post a test login/pw?. (the default theme does not even display the shrink if you are there as a guest)

I actually didn't notice this myself, but it looks like it's by design. If a user doesn't want to see a category, it most likely means they don't care about the posts in there. So it really doesn't matter if it shows up or not.

If they want to see these posts, they must have the category expanded.

I see. I always thought collapsing was just a way to make the main page shorter and easier to browse through. This is how myself, and many of my members have been using it.

Is there a way to change this easily so that it would still show?

This is by design. If you want we can move this topic over to the Mod Request board to see if anyone can come up with a mod for this.
