Which author's theme do you think is the best?

Babylonking
Bloc
Golden_Helmet
KIKA
Mystica
Wissi

Bitwiz44

There are so many good ones, it was very hard to select one author. I wish I had the tallent they have. On my forum, women out number men 5-1. Im very sure they would like all of mystica's themes.

I would like to have all of the entries...   :D guess Im just greedy!

GiNi3D

First, to all authors that entered the contest for money or pride, good work.  ;)

Now the critics  :'( ;D

Babylonking's good and bad highlights
-There are touches of originality here and there.
-The three info boxes at the top are excessively apart from each other.
-The colors are simply to pastel, which is not good for the general audience.
-When reviewing, the xhtml validation showed 16 errors.

Like a broken LP
8/10
------------------------------------
Bloc's good and bad highlights (mercury theme only)
-There are touches of originality here and there as well.
-The user info, the search and the forum buttons seem all mixed up together.
-The colors are okay, yet not enough punch.
-When reviewing, the xhtml validation showed NO errors.
-Mercury is a bad name.

The name is bad
8/10
------------------------------------
Golden_Helmet's good and bad highlights
-The header is very compact, good, but the buttons are too small for the dark environment.
-The colors look like it is trying to hide something, maybe a YaBB SE skin.
-The login at the bottom reminds me of YaBB SE.
-Speaking of YaBB SE, it is a pure duplicate, not good this is SMF.
-When reviewing, the xhtml validation showed NO errors, no wonder.

Démodé
5/10
-------------------------------------
KIKA's good and bad highlights
-The colors are not shaded enough.
-An effort could have been made to match the buttons with the theme.
-And I have nothing else to add.
-When reviewing, the xhtml validation showed 5 errors.

Pippi is not innovative
4/10
--------------------------------------
Mystica's good and bad highlights (Puzzle themes only)
-I like the logo's position.
-The "Welcome, Guest. Please login or register" message is well placed, in the middle that is.
-For the color, I like the Puzzle BW, a little bit more punch, and bingo.
-The letters on the buttons are a bit too wedged on the left, and having those words non-capitalized makes it worst.
-The news area is implemented very well, and everything is nice and clear.
-Yet the search is missing, I would like to see where it would go.
-When reviewing, the xhtml validation showed NO errors.

Great gob, punchier grays thought
8/10
--------------------------------------
Wissi's good and bad highlights
-This theme is probably the ugliest of them all, but do not get me wrong, the theory is sound.
-The blue sections of the theme are the part that makes it look bad.
-The Logo is how it should be, excellent for a great number of us.
-In the right top corner, the stats and calendar buttons are not necessary, but okay.
-When reviewing, the xhtml validation showed a whopping 70 errors, not sound, but fixable.

Wisdom, but no practice
8/10

It was hard to decide, but I like wissi, the blue is horrible, and I don't like the stats and calendar, but I like the simplicity of the rest.

Good Luck to every author!

Even though I voted for Bloc (his Themis theme is awesome), I realy liked Wissi's theme.
Although, I agree with GiNi3D with the point about blue.

Wissi - You're theme, in my opinion, would be so much better if the logo banner and the bottom blue bar matched the rest of the site  theme - say a creme or white colour.

Also, I'm a sucker for fixed-width, and I would totally use it on my site if it was...For some reason I have too much trouble making themes fixed width - I can't seem to figure it out...

Thanks so much you guys!!! ;D
Great work. (Just wish there were more submissions....)

I just read the first part of the topic!

isn't the contest somehow unfair?  :-\
don't get me wrong, i was one of the first ppl who was going to join the contest since i love design but i didn't have the time for it.

anyway, if i did and joined the contest it would have been 1 THEME only!

but the poll is for author!
which means if the author have submited 5 or more and someone only 1
= the first person get 5 times more chances for votes then the second person?

correct me if i'm wrong here!

So many great templates to choose from. And much better than anything I could ever drag on to the screen.

Well done to everyone who entered.
I think this is a great example of the flexibility we have been given with the SMF templating system.
Thank you to everyone who entered - I am seriously impressed and inspired by every single one of the entries.

Yeah I agree. That's exactly what I though when I came into the contest. I've seen many people saying that one of Bloc's themes is their favourite, and so they've voted for him, it's not fair for people like Babylonking who created 1 great theme, but is hardly getting any votes for it... although I believe that this poll doesn't pick out the winner, the staff will have a private poll, which should hopefully be fairer.

Please vote for the author of your favorite theme from the list below (in alphabetical order):

Looks like another line was edited out of my original post, which said to please only vote based on theme, but for the author of the theme you most prefer.  But maybe I'm just remembering wrong.

Philosophy aims at the logical clarification of thoughts. Philosophy is not a body of
doctrine but an activity. A philosophical work consists essentially of elucidations.
Philosophy does not result in 'philosophical propositions', but rather in the clarification of
propositions. Without philosophy thoughts are, as it were, cloudy and indistinct: its task is to make them clear and to give them sharp boundaries.

But maybe I'm just remembering wrong.

That's it. I only added the "in alphabetical order".

Strongly disagreed here. Exactly because of this it says in the first vote to look first closely at all 26 themes *before* you vote. It is up to you to place a fair vote!

The contest rules say clearly that each author can submit several themes but win only 1 prize. It is up to the authors how many themes they submit.
