Announcing Our First Contest

Abedie

Hi,

I can't quote all postings parts this is a respond too, so I just make this one post.
- Seen the amount of chit chat, I hope the results are placed in a new topic.

- Another motivation to add a good free theme could be the following. I've seen on several other places, people that where very good in theming, helping fellow members showing their knowledge, making free themes for the project they like, growing out to their own business, using their free themes to advert their work.

- I suggest the voting should not be restricted to the amount of placed postings, as there are people that do read up and post seldom. I would restrict the voting to people that are a member from the date of yesterday or before. Setting the posting number to 25 minimum, rules out 6612 registered members. (Yep I counted them ;) )
I think it's more honest to give a weigth on votes of people that use the voted theme in real on their site within the 7 days followed on placing their vote.

- I could open a list on one of my sites with the themes, but I think it's in the interest of SMF to have a theme-list on their own site in combination with their download section, because what happens something go wrong with me or my sites? I think it wisdom to keep it here.
I will volunteer to do some work for it (like I do for the portal/cms-list) if thats whats needed to keep the list up to date.

Friendly (themed) greetings,
Abedie

Wow... I just did some checking, and we've got 4515 members who have never even posted here, some of whom have been members for well over a year... Maybe it's time for some pruning ;)

Just because they don't post doesn't mean they don't read.  Some people sign up just for the email announcements.  It would be stupid to delete them.

True... Wasn't thinking about that. Ok, well how about pruning anyone who falls under the following category?

They haven't posted since they joined, they've been here at least a year, they've never visited the forum since they joined and their email address doesn't work anymore

I'm sure there are a few who fall under that category... :)

Just to keep uptodate the portal/cms list I'm member of several boards on the interesting parts. I don't post but got email response on postings.
I post the 'list' 20+ times and removed some postings from me, so whats the actual counting say about the value of the number of counting as edited posting are not counted?
They maybe not post but could be emailed about the contest and upgrades etc.

My 2 cents,
Abedie
