Set Profiles to Private Except for Buddies

Maybe I am crazy, because I thought I saw the ability to do this previously...

I am interested in (1) making my user profiles private so that they would only be viewable by their buddies and (2) a mod that would make it so the other member would have to approve your buddy request. I am trying to create a forum with semi private profiles, and this would be a huge help.

For (1), if a member sees someone on the member list that they want to add as a buddy, clicking on the member's name would generate a request to add them as a buddy, which the other member would then have to accept or deny.

Additionally, you could tell a friend what your username is, and they could "edit buddies" and type the membername in. This would still send a request to the other person to accept the buddy request, or deny it.

I am not sure if this is possible, but would be an EXCELLENT addition to the forum that I am creating.

Check into Ultimate Profile ,, but also read up in the forum at his support site to get up to date on the buddies system

CG...I have been looking at using the ultimate profile mod for a while. I am creating a highly customized smf site (mainly by stripping out a lot of things, and adding a few others here and there). things have been tinkered with so much, that i could no longer install most mods (i could never find the reference points for the file edits because most of them had been deleted)...i have learned a valuable lesson though....add all mods, and then begin the customizations (also, comment out as much as possible rather than deleting)...so, in a nutshell, i installed a clean version of smf 1.1.5, added the ultimate mod, as well as some others, and now i'm back to customizing. i am very glad i added the ultimate profile mod though. if anyone has a profile centric forum, this is perhaps the best mod ever made for smf. i love it! at first, i thought i was going to regret starting over from scratch. however, given the benefits of this mod, and i kept pretty good documentation to help me recreate most of my customizations, this was well worth it! considering i never worked with php, or forums, until about a month ago, i have learned a lot through all of this.

regardless, i no longer need help with this at this time.

HOWEVER, I DO BELIEVE THE FUNCTIONALITY THAT I ASKED ABOUT ABOVE WOULD BE A GREAT ADD IN FUTURE VERSIONS!

It would make an excellent mod and a great feature to then only allow select people to see your super specific details
