Controlling User Permissions in a similar way to PHPBB

Hi

On our PHPBB we have got set up individual threads/categories  that can be accesed only by ONE person, not "user group".

My question is: Does simple machines have this adjustement feature also? I have looked for it but I can't see a way to make threads private except for just one individual...Is this possible?

The idea being that only a small team that are working on a particular project can view and access the thread..

yes it is possible. just make a usergroup for 1 person

There's also a mod to do just this.... (member specific permissions.)
