Ks I have a question?  We set up our blog for all members,  four people have
blogs, robbie and I included.  We tried it out, it worked really well, everyone
liked it...  Then just now I went back to add another new topic and got this
reply?   " Only the blog owner can post new topics "  I don't get it?   I've
created six new topics,  no problem, have them in the correct categories,
yet this time when I try I continually get that message...

             Only the blog owner can post new topics

    So I asked robbie to see if he could still add new topics to his, he tried
and got the same message?

   Oh and when my moderator tried to post a reply to one of the topics
she got this?    Plus she gets that when she even tries to create her own
blog?

Note: It appears that your database may require an upgrade. Your forum's files are currently at version SMF 1.1.5, while your database is at version 1.1.4. The above error might possibly go away if you execute the latest version of upgrade.php.

I apologize for the difficulties you are experiencing, hotchildxox.  The issues you are experiencing are known issues with v1.11.  Good news for you, though.  Version 2.0.1 beta is going to be released within a few days.

What I can do for you right now is fix your Subs-Post.php and Post.php files.  If you could email both of those to me, I will perform the necessary fixes.  :)

StarChildxox

Thanks Charles,
I am sending it to you via this post in attachments.  I really appreciate it!

Did you by chance use SMF's manage boards to edit these blogs or even just save them via the manage boards page?  I'm thinking that might be the root of this problem that people have had with 1.11.

StarChildxox

The only thing I can think of?  Is that my moderator had no option to blog in
her profile so I went to admin and started hers for her in admin blog control?
Would that have caused the problem ? Should I just delete her blog?

If you have access to the database, could you check in the boards table and make sure that blog/board has that user's ID # in the blog_owner column?

robbie93

hi charles :D

I have just checked in the boards table and it has the number 1 in the blog_owner colunm

8)

Charles Hill

I assume the admin's user ID is 1 then... Ok ya... Since you created this user's blog for them, your ID was input as the owner instead of their ID.  This is a problem :)

To fix the problem you can simply overwrite the 1 in that column for that blog/board with the real / intended owner's ID.

This is a non-issue in 2.0.1 because I've restructured the entire mod so that everything is very clear.  Admins will be able to edit any/all blog control panels without any issues.

robbie93

shall we wait for the new version to come out then :D

Charles Hill

I'm guessing I should bite the bullet and make an upgrade package for 1.11 to 2.0.1 ........ sigh

ilikeitalot

I would respectfully disagree with that decision.  Even though I'm using v1.11 and waiting for the new version, I wouldn't want you to waste time creating an upgrade package.  That would surely be a huge amount of work.  I'd much rather you get the new version out quickly instead lol.  With such major changes, I think people should be ok with uninstalling and reinstalling.  Just my opinion though.  I'm really looking forward to v2!!!  Thanks!

I can't wait for the new version of this mod to come out...it is already a great product, and I am sure you are making the new one a lot better!

One question...do you plan to provide the option to make your first post on the same page where you create your blog in the blog control panel? I believe this would make the entire blog creation process soo much more straightforward and much less confusing.

I will attempt to cram a couple extra links (maybe tab links) .... Write Article.... which will take you directly to a post page for that blog.... and Go to Blog which will take you directly to the main blog page for that blog.

Yes this blogging community mod will be ridiculous..... I keep coming up with new awesome things to add..... so it might be a little longer...

Dude, the suspense is agonizing. Like someone else said, I feel like a kid on Christmas eve. I am sure it will definitely be worth the wait.

Think this is the right place to post.

I'm using SMF 1.1.5 (installed about a week ago) with blog_smf11X.

Whenever I try to access Blogs via the tab in the menu bar I get the error: "You are not allowed to view this blog."  I get the same error when I login under the regular member test account I've set up aswellas when I view the site as a guest.  The blog package did work at one point because I created a test blog when I first installed the package.

To try to remedy the error, I've uninstalled, removed all references to the blogging package from subs.php, index.template.php and deleted blogs.php (might have done something else too but I'd been awake a long time when I did this) then reinstalled the package.  Using cpanel, I checked the SQL database for errors (although not manually because I don't know how to).

I can access the blog admin panel and view blogs when a direct link to a blog is clicked (i.e the error occurs when I click the blog tab in the menu bar across the top of a web page).

Please can someone suggest a fix.
Would be nice to get some traffic around here...

i have this when making the first edit on the index.php page:

elseif (empty($_REQUEST['action']))
{
// Action and board are both empty... maybe the portal page?
if (empty($board) && empty($topic) && $settings['TPortal_front_type']!='boardindex')
{
require_once($sourcedir . '/TPortal.php');
return 'TPortal';
}
if (empty($board) && empty($topic) && $settings['TPortal_front_type']=='boardindex' && (isset($_GET['cat']) || isset($_GET['page'])))
{
require_once($sourcedir . '/TPortal.php');
return 'TPortal';
}
// Action and board are still both empty...and no portal startpage - BoardIndex!
elseif (empty($board) && empty($topic) && $settings['TPortal_front_type']=='boardindex')
{
require_once($sourcedir . '/BoardIndex.php');
return 'BoardIndex';

I have left this edit as it is at the moment.

Other fail was on locktopic.php but that is because i have the "Post reason for Lock" mod

EDIT: Nothing appears (My limited knowledge is telling me its because of the index.php edit im missing.

I have attached my index.php to help solve this for other TINYPORTAL users :)

I edit using Notepad++

EDIT 2:
using no changes what so ever to index.php, im now getting it working with a direct link:
http://voguefm.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=blogs

However, i can not view individuals blogs or any articles.

I just get my index page :S

Cheers Charles
