Quote from: Jade E. on September 13, 2008, 06:45:31 PMIt turns out that the Etc/* timezones (excepting Etc/UTC) are deprecated for a couple reasons.  The important ones being, the GMT+/- timezones are reversed (The Etc/GMT+8 tz actually refers to GMT-8). And those timezones don't contain any DST settings, so they're going to be wrong for at least part of the year in the half of the world that uses a form of DST.
Yes that is why I asked if what the entry you had, as to most people it can be read the wrong way.

Where is this entry in the Database?  I'm having the same issue on 1.1.6, and would like to clear it out.

Thank you!

Search for 'default_timezone' in your settings table.

I'm not seeing it by search, or when I manually sort the table in phpMyAdmin and scan all the listings in the settings table - it looks like it's not there on either of the forums I run.

My server is outside the USA, I may be able to get them to update the timezone, and I'll see if that is the cause.

Well if it's not there, then it's not there and it's not affecting your forum.  There is an issue with any timezone offset greater than +12 though.  You might want to search for that, I don't know of a current solution in 1.1.x

It was the server - I should have checked there, first.  (A friend just went through this on his own hardware, and I forgot to check my hosting provider before I posted.  Bleah!)
