Yes. Something silly. You didn't clear your browser cache. When I go to your forum root I see a favicon with a 3x3 squares pattern, white lines, black background. That's it, right? If so, then it's only your own browser with the problem.

That is the browser cache and you are seeing it at my forum?
I cleared browser cache before posting here and wasn't showing.
Strange one.

If I described your favicon adequately then the problem must be your browser cache.

This modification has been verified to work properly with both SMF 1.1.6 and SMF 2.0 Beta 4.

Do you have the right mod? This one doesn't have a version history. This mod is hardly even a mod.

I appreciate your errata but this mod hasn't got a revision history yet, although it should have a version 1.0 notation. But it doesn't.

You will have to add the favicon META tags to your portal to have it show up on the initial portal page. I'll help you here if you ask.

I note that the favicon is showing up fine when you go to your forum, reporting here with my Firefox 2.x browser. Different browsers will have different behavior.

So if you want to add the lines to your portal, just add these lines:

The first line is required and the second line is advisable, from what I've read.

i have the .ico file in my root, in my public_html fold and even my forum folder. I've made the appropriate mod to my index.template.php for the theme I'm using. Cleared the cash on both ie and ff. No icon... :\

Edit: Scratch that, it works in ff, but not ie.

Are there further steps required for ie7?

Thought I might bump this as I'm having the same issue for IE7 as the last poster. Any advice anyone? My favicon seems to work on google chrome, and older IE's. I haven't tried on any other internet browsers though.

I cant get this to work, I added the code to the index.template in the default theme folder,

and uploaded my favicon.ico to my root directory (and basically ever other directory/themes etc)

but its not working..........

Doesn't work with Firefox. Works with Internet Explorer, Chrome and Safari (probably on Opera too).

Because you used "/favicon.ico" instead of "http://www.example.org/favicon.ico [nofollow]"

It's a better idea to use an argument to get the path to the forum root, and use that to put favicon.ico in.

I know this is old so sue me lol.

1) The mod installed fine on 2.0.4
2) I got my image, resized to 16x16 and veen renamed it to favicon.ico
3) Uploaded it to the forums root, where index.php lies
4) Still not seeing my icon, could be a cache thing.

All that said, could someone please visit my site at the following URL and let me know if the icon shows for you please ?
