Hi
I just installed simple portal classic 2.0.5 on my forums but am having a problem.  All of my boards that I previously created are gone.  They show up under boards in admin but not on my main page and I can't figure out how to get the back on there.
Could someone PLEASE help??
Thanks!

Having a very minor issue. When using Simple Portal with themes other than the default the "home" button on the menu is highlighted when I'm on my forum page instead of the "forum" button. Same issue with every theme I've attempted to use this mod on. Any guidence would be appreciated...thanks.

Is there a Block for the "User Online Today"-Mod avaible?

I don't think so. Maybe you can ask the mod author to create one for you.

They are in this url: www.yoursite.com/index.php?action=forum. You need to add a 'forum' button to your custom themes index.template.php file manually. See this topic for details: http://simpleportal.net/index.php?topic=148

This is fixed in the new version of mod, which will be out very soon. You can use this fix for now: http://simpleportal.net/index.php?topic=788.0

I want to use the Recent Topics Block, but I have a problem with this block.
I want to show recently New Topics (threads), ignoring replies to this Topic.
When i use this block, if someone replied to an Topic, this message is placed in top.
How do I teach only the latest New Topics?

Thanks in advance.

Found what i believe to be a bug, but maybe i am doing something wrong.. I added a new membergroup "vip" i inherited the permissions from regular members, when i make my test account a vip 90% of the info on the portal page disapears, when i leave it as a regular member, it is all there, if i add vip as an aditional member group and not make it primary, it is still at 90% loss... I dont see anywere to set permission for simple portal beside activating it etc... any help would be great...

Make sure all blocks are set for the new membergroup to see it.

Go into the settings for each block, then click Select permissions for each group
and make sure that all membergroups are checkmarked.

Absolutely love this mod!

Thanks, SimplePortal Team...

I was wondering, though...if someone may be able to help me out...give me a little guidance...or just supply me with the coding I need to do the following for this mod:

My navigation menu has gotten to the point where it's totally out of control.  What I'd like to do is create a PHP block that will have links to certain pages already in the navigation menu, like the "arcade, chat, profile, donations, articles and links" pages.  Whether or not a user sees the links in this new block will be based on permissions.  Should this work...I'd like to be able to remove those links from the navigation menu.

Anyone care to tell me if this is possible...what I'd have to do (as far as coding the new PHP block)...and how to remove the afore mentioned links from the navigation menu?

Thanks in advance for your help...

Just set up a HTML block, and use regular HTML you would use in setting up links on a web page.

Or, could use a BBC block, and use the BBC way of making links.

Removing the stuff from the menu depends on SMF version :).

I've thought about going this route...and it's much easier to do...but the problem is the links will show regardless of permissions, correct?

Indeed.

There will not be permissions on the links, unless you set the block to only be accessed by certain member groups.

Okay, well you're going to be editing the index.template.php of any theme that needs the buttons removed. I can do it if you like :).

Basically...what my intentions are (just in case they weren't understood from the beginning) is to have a link menu based on group permissions...links are only viewable if you're a registered member...within a PHP block.  I don't want the block, itself, with permissions...just the link content inside it.  Like the navigation menu...certain tabs are viewable once a member is logged in.

Once the above is accomplished...I want to remove the menu tabs from the navigation menu.  This way... the navigation menu is less cluttered, but the links are viewable in the PHP block from the portal homepage...based on permissions, of course.

Once I get the PHP block created...then the removal of the tabs in the navigation menu is the easy part.

I only use the default template...

I believe a Link Block is planned for future SP releases. However, you can probably get more dedicated support if you post your request in SimplePortal.net's Blocks board.
Do NOT PM me for support.
