I've intergraded my board with mambo and everything works fine. What I'de like to do though is when you click on any of the links in your login screen that it would open the forum in a seperate window. Also is there any way to include all the member items from the standard mambo lagin...submit news...etc

Irakli

Am I reading this wrong in my administrative panel for mambo? It says that I'm the only member even though everyone can login to the forums through mambo. Did the members not cary over? how could I make this work??

Kindred

The first time an SMF user log on, he will be imported into the mambo userbase.

Please do not PM, IM or Email me with support questions.  You will get better and faster responses in the support boards.  Thank you.

So, they have to use the forum login before they can login through the mos-module?

No.

SMF users login through the integrated login module.  This is how they are transferred to Mambo.

Irakli

That doesn't seem to work as I have logged in with my smf sn through the login module and I don't show up as a user in my mambo cpanel

Orstio

Do you have a URL?  You can PM it to me if you wish.

I have smf and mambo in seperate databases and in intergration I have it entered as -smf and _mos
I've read here that you need to include the datbase name if it's in seperate databases???  :-[

Orstio

Yes, if you have separate databases, you must also include the database names.  Make sure that both databases have access from the same database user.

The prefixes are usually smf_ and mos_ (the underscores go at the end, not the beginning).

Using separate databases and an unwrapped integrated forum are not something you want to try if you know very little about PHP and MySQL.  It can be done, but it requires changes to MOS_SMF.php.

Irakli

Yea I see what you mean...I've added the same user for each database and enterd in the intergration as "irakli_mambo" mos_
and "irakli_ibrd2" smf_
I just got a bunch of error messages...
What do you mean by unwrapped??? I guess what  I could do is back up the entire smf database and re upload it to the mambo one or the other way around. I think backing up the smf would be easier. Sounds like that's the only way out for the moment... :-[

Orstio

Unwrapped:  Not wrapped in Mambo.  You are not using this one:

http://thekissarmy.com/index.php?option=com_smf

That presents some problems for the login module, which by default is dependent upon that.

Your database prefixes should look like this:

`irakli_mambo`.mos_
`irakli_ibrd2`.smf_

You can copy/paste in those values.  You will have to make sure that the mambo database user has access to the ibrd2 database, and vice versa.  There are still a number of changes you will need to make to MOS_SMF.php.

Irakli

thats actually how I wanted it in the first place where's it opens a new window. How would I make it unwrapped???

Orstio

You don't have to make it unwrapped.  Just don't add the component to your menu, and it will be unwrapped.  You already have it unwrapped.

This brings up issues with the integrated login, however.  Like I said, the login module depends upon the wrapped forum, unless you make a number of changes to MOS_SMF.php.

Irakli

What if I was to backup the mambo database and then upload it into the smf database. Would that solve the problem? :o

Orstio

Your main problem is the unwrapped forum, not the databases.  You will, however, have to give permission to your SMF database user to your Mambo database, and vice versa in cPanel.

I have emailed you the latest version of the MOS_SMF.php file.  Follow the instructions in it carefully, and make sure to uncomment the lines you edit.

Let me know how it goes.  If it works, I will include it in the next release.

Irakli

Thank you so much!!! it works now. I almost got it to work on my first try accept by accident I uncommented all the directions so it gave me some errors but that was no problem.  :)

Irakli

Now I got another question...how would I add all the regular user menus links to this one...submit news...etc
also can I make all the links in the user menu open the in a seperate window.

Irakli

right now I have both user menus up and everything in the other menu works accept for the submit news where it says "you're not authorized..." so what I wanted to do was combine the two menus and then make that link work ;D
