0.7.9 out :)

On a clean install it isn't working for me, it just throws up an error (can't see it now, deleted the files, will test again in a bit). And do I have to overwrite all of my files, meaning all edits/mods I'll have to do again?

When/where?  What version of SMF?  Yes you have to delete the whole zCommunity folder and upload the new one.

qubbah

is there any code for simple portal or tp to show latest article in blog? TQ

Ok so I completely uninstalled 0.7.7 and deleted the files

I then uploaded the 0.7.9 files and then installed the smf files for it.

Everything looks how it looked back BEFORE I put 0.7.7 on (which is good, I liked how that looked)

However when I fill in a subject and an entry and try to post it, it clears it all out and then says I can't post it without filling those items in.

I only get one error now

8: Undefined index: rand_string
File: dry3210.com/zCommunity/Sources/Post.php

The syntax will be quite apparent in the contact forms plug-in I've already made (and am using on DoZ).  I just need to finish developing the downloads system plug-in to distribute said contact forms plug-in ;)

Ok, then i will wait until you will be ready to release your first plug-in.  ;)

Okay, I'm running 2.0 BETA 4.
I've tried 0.7.7 and 0.7.9, neither work. 0.7.7 just comes up with a template parse error, but within 0.7.9 I cannot access anything to do with it on my forum, when it says "Click here to be taken to the blog control panel" or something like that, it just takes me to my forum home page, what should I do? :'(

jayman2

I'm running smf 1.1.8 and I'm can't upload any version of zcommunity except 0.7.4.  Whenever I try to upload any other version I get this error:
The package you tried to upload either is not a valid package or has become corrupted.

I've redownloaded it several times and it will unpack without any errors, but package manager just can't upload it.  I have 0.7.4 installed and running great except the blog won't display any avatars that came with the smf installation.  If I upload an avatar from my pc, they display in the blog just fine.  Is there any other way to upload the new version so I can install the latest version of zcommunity?

~Killer~

JayMan2, it's got to be in a new folder in your root forum directory called "zCommunity", (the "_files"), then you upload the main via Package Manager...

Thanks for your reply.  I know how to install it.  I have it running just fine on 2 sites.   I just cant upload any version except v0.7.4 thru Package Manager in smf 1.1.8.  I can only upload v0.7.4 thru Package Manager.  I would be happy with 0.7.4 if it wasn't for the avatar problem.  I would like to upgrade to the latest version of zc.

The following error(s) occurred:
Subject cannot be blank.
Body cannot be blank.

I installed a fresh copy of SMF RC1 2.0 and ZCommunity 0.7.9A. Whenever I go to create a new Article or post a comment to an existing article I get the error message Above. If I retype the information in the new page then it posts normally. Any ideas on what is causing this problem?

I'm pretty sure it's a bug. A lot of people have reported this issue (including myself).

Masterjts

Thats a little reassuring since I now know its not my problem but also a little disappointing since it will stay broken until a new version is released.

I love the mod sofar (except for that deal breaking bug where you loose your entire post and get that error message.)

SMF 2 has its own caching system... so the cache has to be cleared after initially installing zCommunity.  I forgot to add the code that clears the cache to the install_db_edits.php file.. go to your admin area and save your settings somewhere the zCommunity stuff should work then.

I think the problem some people are experiencing with the posting is due to those 3 php settings... I will investigate further and try to figure out a solution.

What do you mean you can't install the later versions?  What problem is occurring and when/where?

Charles Hill

Instead of wasting a lot of time figuring out what exactly is going wrong with the $_SESSION global, I am using another method of doing the same thing... Should work for those of you who were experiencing difficulties with it.  Rather than force you all to wait for the next version I've attached the altered Post.php so that you can get it working.
