I have SimplePortal installed on my site and this mod appears in the middle of the portal. How can I solve this problem?

Is there a way to manually update from .7.9? Also if i do uninstall/reinstall via package manager, will I lose the existing blogs?

TommyJoe

I only have one question so far, where can I change the color code to make the menu bar a little darker?
It is almost transparent. I would like to make it at least as dark as the 2.0rc1 menu bars!

Thanks

Hiya, :)
Encountered an odd error. I wouldn't call it a high priority as a simple work around is just a quick explanation on my part kind of thing.

In the blog articles a single backslash \ gets repeated, so it looks like this \\ after I save. It also will double \\ even when I put the single \ in a code or quote bracket.
hxxp:blath.com/bbs/index.php?article=11.0 [nonactive]

Fortunately the rest of the system doesn't suffer from it. I had to check as I realized that I probably never typed \ in a message yet. :)
hxxp:blath.com/bbs/index.php?topic=425.0 [nonactive]

Anyway something for the wack a mole list, Though no rush as I prefer you to rest and target any more serious ones that people are facing. :)

Enjoy the Spring Season Charles, :)

So do I just uninstall the package and delete the original zcommunity folder and reinstall?

Yes.

Well that never worked - completely messed up my site - I am now in the process of trying to fix the issues that this mod has created.

I lost my navigation and portal index - seems the DB update does not work as desired.

I have attached the resulting DB entries - see if you can see hwat damage has been done - I think it is just an issue with the DB update?

I have removed this now and dropped the blog tables - I have the attached file as back up.

i removed it :) i thought that was pretty goofed up...

any suggestions for why i am getting these bugs?

Not entirely sure... Can get unpredictable styling problems if you have a number of css style sheets for each page (which is the case when displaying zCommunity within your forum's templates).  You'll have to figure out where the conflicts are occurring with your forum's themes.

I'll figure out what needs to be done to make it work seamlessly with those other portal mods.

I would recommend manually uninstalling and then installing the new version if you don't want any issues.  The package manager is iffy.  Running install_db_edits.php (after you've updated the zCommunity folder/files) will handle all the db changes for you.  And you will not lose any data.

I assume you mean the navigation menus in the control panel area?  That css is located in zCommunity/Themes/default/css/zc_basics.css

Also there is some additional css for those menus in each zCommunity themes' css folder in style.css

What makes you think it's the db updates that didn't work?  Most likely you had problems with modifying your SMF files.  I recommend doing it manually instead of using the package manager if you have other mods installed (particularly portal mods).

ahhh...was trying to make manual edits and thought i had copy of my index.php but apparently I dont because now im having this issue:

Message: Fatal error: Cannot redeclare smf_main() (previously declared in /home/anypupco/public_html/a-corsotalk/index.php:165) in /home/anypupco/public_html/a-corsotalk/index.php on line 525

Here is my site where im getting this message: http://www.corsotalk.com

i have attached my index.php....please help!

Skhilled

You can rename index.ph~ to index.php. I was just looking at your server and it is only 5 days old. It should take you back to before you made any edits within that time frame.

However, you'll have to redo the edits we spoke of yesterday to fix the default theme again...

Xavi-Nena

where is that located? i dont see it in the directory the index.php is?

Should be in the main forum directory...if that is the one you edited...

EDIT: Sorry, it is "index.php~". The files with the "~" at the end are backup that were made via Forum Maintenance options. You can use those to revert back.

Xavi-Nena

OH THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU SKHILLED!

that fixed it for now :) now i just have to get to the bottom of zcommunity bugs im getting.

Found one! Provided all the necessary manual edit codes needed to cleanly erase BC. Done!

Here it is for those who might be in the same boat - http://resourcez.biz/PackageParser/

THANK YOU for this...

ummm...   just so that you are aware.... that same parser is built into every mod's page here on SMF.

this may be true but the mod page for the old blog...blog community is no longer available or at least it only takes me to the zcommunity mod which was not what we were trying to uninstall which was the old blog mod BlogCommunity :)

Xavi-Nena

Ok im not sure what the heck happened but I tried to manually uninstall the last version before 0.8.1 but the old versions disappear and are replaced but the current version only so I do not know what I need to change with my index.php

I have attached it because now I cannot even access my blog at www.corsotalk.com you can visit and see that it takes me to the forum http://corsotalk.com/index.php?action=zc

also have attached the index.template.php because it was suggested someone would need to see this too...both my admin panel and regular blog link both direct me to the forum main page.

I already have this installed and I like the newest version alot more than what I have. Is there a way to upgrade without deleting all the articles and blogs already in the database???  ???

QuoteBoth of you need to remove the following from your index.php:
Code: [Select]
if (isset($modSettings['zc_mode']))
   {
      global $context, $boarddir;
      global $zc, $zcFunc, $blog_info, $blog, $article, $comment, $poll, $draft;

      // initialize zCommunity...
      if (file_exists($boarddir . '/zCommunity/zc.php'))
      {
         require_once($boarddir . '/zCommunity/zc.php');
         zc_init();
      }
      else
         unset($modSettings['zc_mode']);
   }

Didn't work.  :'(

Charles,

Sorry to ask you this again (too many pages to read and SMFs search engine inside the topic is a piece of crap, since it only returns one result per topic)... but did you manage to make a converter for felblog?

You might have more that you need to remove if you have uninstalled/installed more than once.  The package manager is iffy.  Should always double check to make sure the edits were made properly.

You won't lose the data in your database.  Though if you're using Blog Community (not zCommunity) you'll have to import your old blogs using the SMF boards importer in the Global Settings tab of the control panel.

That index.php doesn't have any code for zCommunity in it.  Look at the other_1_1_x.xml file from the zCommunity_0_8_1_beta__smf_install.zip package.  It tells you what and where to add code to your forum's index.php

Xavi-Nena

each time i make those changes to the index.php i get this error:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare smf_main() (previously declared in /home/anypupco/public_html/a-corsotalk/index.php:165) in /home/anypupco/public_html/a-corsotalk/index.php on line 507

i put it in exactly as it instructs and that is what happens?
